City Take Top Spot

Noelle Murray lobbed Hibs keeper Jenna Fife to put Glasgow City ahead and it was 2-0 on 25 minutes when Hayley Lauder netted, soon after having a shot tipped over the bar.

Siobhan Hunter was denied a third for City as Fife blocked the effort well, keeping her side in the game before they pulled a second-half goal back, Rachel Small netting on the rebound from a Katey Turner strike.

While the reigning champions missed chances to make the game safe, they nearly paid the price but for Lee Aleander tipping over a Lucy Graham shot.

Spartans Check Celtic Progress

Spartans moved within a point of Hibernian, thanks to a late leveller at Celtic.

A 20-yard strike from Mairead Fulton had the Hoops ahead at half-time but Zoe Johnson replied to earn the visitors a point.

Gers Get Four

Rangers’ 4-0 result at Hamilton puts them just a point short of rivals Celtic in mid-table.

Rachael O’Neil’s powerful header in off the post gave the Gers a 35th-minute advantage, with Hannah Robertson lobbing the keeper to double the lead on half-time.

Chelsie Watson headed in a corner for 3-0 on 73 minutes and Claire Adams chipped in a late fourth from outside the box.

Dons Double Points Tally

The basement battle ended goalless, giving Aberdeen their second point of the campaign and lifting Stirling University out of the bottom two on goal-difference.

Forfar Farmington moved four points clear in SWPL 2 with a 5-0 defeat of Edinburgh University Hutchison Vale. Cheryl Kilcoyne’s first half opener was followed by goals from Robyn Smith, Julia Scott, Kayleigh Noble and Megan McCarthy to make it six games unbeaten for Mark Nisbet’s side.

Glasgow Girls surrendered second place to Hearts, against whom they went down 4-1 at home. An early double from Rachel Walkingshaw was added to by Kara Kidd and Ashley Carse, before Lauren Evans pulled one back in the 69th minute.

Jeanfield Swifts got off the mark and off the foot of the table, their 3-0 result over East Fife putting their visitors in last place. Eilidh McIntyre bagged a brace in the first 2 minutes and Jade MacDonald got the other goal after the interval.

Motherwell doubled their tally with a 4-1 success against Buchan, with whom they now go level on points in mid-table. Sophie Gallacher grabbed two, Mandy Burns and Nicole Goodwin one each.
