Blackburn Rovers 3-1 Huddersfield Town (Att: 176)

The Northern Division champions stretched their lead over second-placed Middlesbrough to thirteen points, with a 3-1 defeat of Huddersfield Town on Monday night.

The Terriers are one of only two sides to have denied Rovers a league win, when they shared six goals early in the campaign.

But Blackburn were off to a flying start with two goals in the opening 8 minutes, as Faye McCoy headed in from a corner and then Saffron Jordan exploited a defensive error to set up Danielle Whitham, who slotted home the second.

Ella Toone played Kelsey Pearson through on goal just before half-time but the shot was saved.

Rovers did get their third goal 3 minutes after the restart though, as Hannah Fryer won the ball and placed it past the goalkeeper.

McCoy rattled the post and both Whitham and Jess Holbrook forced saves, before Ella Harris slipped the ball beneath Danielle Hill for an 85th-minute consolation..

Both teams no complete their league fixtures this Sunday, as Rovers return to Ewood Park to play Stoke City, while the Terriers take on West Brom at Shelley FC.
