WSL 1 Spring Series Conclusion

Saturday 3rd June (3.30pm)
FA WSL 1

Birmingham City v Chelsea (Solihull Moors FC) – BT Sport 2
Bristol City v Arsenal (Stoke Gifford Stadium)
Liverpool v Manchester City (Select Security Stadium) – BBC Red Button/Online
Sunderland v Reading (Hetton Centre)

Chelsea and Manchester City will start the last round of matches level on points but Emma Hayes’ side have a far better goal-difference, enough that the Blues are in control and know that a win will see them champions.

However, they travel to draw-specialists Birmingham City, who knocked them out of the SSE FA Cup on penalties.

While Man City will be banking on the leaders dropping points in the Midlands, they are at Liverpool who remain in the hunt themselves, despite last week’s 7-0 drubbing at Chelsea. A draw could just possibly be sufficient for City but the Reds must win to have any hope of finishing top.

Maximum points are also necessary for Arsenal – the only unbeaten side – and they are away at Bristol City, where Chelsea won 4-0 in midweek.

Although Sunderland have only managed three goals in seven games, a draw with Reading will see them secure fifth place. That outcome would lift the Royals to sixth but an away win would see them leapfrog the Black Cats.
