Every year, SRUSA offer players the opportunity in the summer months to play in front of American college and university coaches. Whether coaches are at the event in person, or watching from across the pond, the players are given a great platform to perform. With over 40 players in attendance at last year’s event, SRUSA are already excited about welcoming more players this year.
The summer showcase event will be taking place on Saturday 24th June at Balby Carr Academy in Doncaster on their state of the art 3G surface. The day itself will include some technical work with coaches Jodie Whitford-Stark and Sarah Lowden, who are both UEFA B License holders, and have great experience within the women’s game.
Jodie explains a little bit more about the day;
‘After the success of the summer showcase last year, we are excited to be able to offer the same opportunity to players again this year. Opening the event up to all players gives everyone a great platform to perform, and with coaches in attendance and the event being filmed, all players will receive great exposure. There is a presentation on the day for new players, and parents, to obtain valuable information about the student athlete opportunity in America and how best to approach it’
SRUSA say they are very lucky to have such a great link with Balby Carr Academy and they play a huge part in the Academy partner program. The facilities are first class and with a new 3G surface for the players to excel, it’s the perfect place for us to hold the summer showcase.
Along with players that are looking to go over as student athletes in the next couple of years, current student athletes are always invited back to speak with the girls about their experiences and how hard they need to work before heading over to the USA. Last year, All American Jade Pennock give an invaluable insight into how much she enjoyed her four years over in America.
