Griffiths Names England U-17 Squad For Euro Qualifiers

John Griffiths has named his England squad for the opening round of UEFA Women’s Euro U17 qualifiers.

FA WSL 1 clubs Arsenal and Liverpool have each provided four players to the 20-strong group that are in Latvia for matches against Scotland, Slovakia and the host nation, reports TheFA.com

v Latvia, Sat 14 Oct
v Slovakia, Tues 17 Oct
v Scotland, Fri 20 Oct

The top two nations in the round-robin competition will advance to the elite qualifying round which takes place next spring.

This season’s Euro finals will be staged in Lithuania in May 2018.

Griffiths led the U-17s to a third-place finish at the 2016 Euros which qualified them for the FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup in Jordan, where the Young Lionesses were knocked out at the quarter final stage by eventual winners Japan.
