Archers Shoot Down Bluebirds In Cardiff Derby

Cardiff Met moved three points clear at the top of the Orchard Welsh Premier League, with a 4-1 win at Cardiff City FC Women.

Archers hit the target

Ellie Walker-Smith headed in a Rebecca Mathias cross, as Cardiff Met took an 11th-minute lead at Leckwith Stadium, on their way to a fourth consecutive win.

Monique Fischer doubled the advantage on 20 minutes, with Naomi Clipston getting the Archers’ third goal by the break.

City pulled a goal back on 70 minutes when Shannon Evans headed in a corner, only for Met substitute Jasmine Simpson to restore a three-goal lead 5 minutes from time.

Abergavenny go fourth

Abergavenny are now one of five teams three points behind the leaders, following a 4-0 victory over Caldicot Town in the Gwent derby.

Lyndsey Davies scored twice for the hosts, Amy Thrupp and Maxine Mudge adding one apiece.

Llandudno down Town

Llandudno doubled their points tally with a 3-0 win over an injury-hit Port Talbot Town.

Louisha Doran got a double for the home team, with Kelsie Davies their other scorer.

Rhyl win North Wales battle

Rhyl also registered a second win of the campaign, returning from Caernarfon Town 2-0 victors.

Ashleigh Mills and Emily Jones got the goals for the Lilywhites in the North Wales clash.
