ELECTRIC IRELAND CHALLENGE CUP QUARTER-FINALS
Chimney Corner Breda 0-13 Crusaders Strikers
Cliftonville 2-3(aet) Sion Swifts
Crewe United 1-3 Carnmoney
Glentoran Belfast United 1-3 Newry City
One tie went to extra-time, as Sion Swifts edged through 3-2 winners over Cliftonville at Solitude.
One down at the break to a Leah McEvoy goal, Geny Decker brought the Swifts level.
Decker doubled her tally in the second half, as the tie finished 2-2 at the end of normal time.
Sion’s Amy Boyle-Carr then got the winner in the second period of the extra half-hour.
Carnmoney are the last non-Premiership side left, following their 3-1 victory at Crewe United.
Division 2 North promotion-chasing Crewe took the lead on 30 minutes after a defensive mix up left their striker through one on one with Tasha Baird in goal.
Five minutes before half-time, a neat move finished with Kayleigh Earle netting the equaliser for the Championship side.
Carnmoney went ahead when Hollie Johnston played Kean in and she scored off the post.
Shortly afterwards Johnston headed in powerfully at the back post from a corner by Farrah Neeson to make it 3-1.
Newry City progressed by the same scoreline at Glentoran
The teams had already met twice this season, winning once each, with Newry – who have signed seven Brazilians this year – 4-1 victors in the league just last Wednesday.
The Glens took an early lead through Cleo Neece Taggart but were ultimately made to pay for not conveerting further chances.
Newry’s Aimee Mackin hit a 25 yard daisy cutter to draw the side level on the half hour and within 5 minutes of the start of the second half, Mackin hit the back of te net from 30 yards.
On the 85th minute, Mackin produced a moment of real skill to seal the win, lobbing one player and on the half volley lobbed another, to complete her hat-trick.
Crusaders Strikers swept aside Chimney Corner by thirteen goals to nil.
Emily Wilson was top scorer with four goals for Crusaders over their lower league hosts from the NIWFA Division 1 North.
Substitute Alex Ogle and Nicole Connolly both hit hat-tricks, while Heather Mearns and Clare Carson added one apiece.
