London City Lionesses head coach Eder Maestre welcomed new signing Malou Marcetto to the club – and confirmed she will be in the squad to face Everton this week.

Marcetto signed from Madrid in Liga F, and her new head coach joked that he had been tormented by her when coaching the side facing her.

Aut he also revealed that France international Delphine Cascarino, another new acquisition, is likely to be out for six weeks with an unspecified injury.

The 29-year-old signed for the club in mid-January, joining from San Diego Wave, but has as yet not featured in a team.

“Whave the arrival of Malou Marcetto this week,” Maestre told SheKicks.net on Friday morning, “so in that termsI’m pleased to have her in the squad, a player that I know very well from the Spanish league because I suffer sometimes facing against her! So yes, a very talented young player, a future player to the squad and to the project. So I’m very pleased with her signing.

“And some situations with Delphine…she suffered an injury that she’s going to be out more or less five, six weeks. We need to see how it’s going to [go] forward in her injury, but it’s the sad news because she was training very, very well in that terms. That kind of loss is always literally disappointing for the coach.

“The most important news [this] week in tactical or the way we train all the daysI’m very pleased the way the team’s working every day, so in that terms all is good.”
