Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner says his side will be facing a “totally different” Liverpool team this weekend than the one that started the season.

The Reds got their first Women’s Super League win of the season last weekend thanks to a Mia Enderby brace against Tottenham Hotspur.

And this Sunday they travel to Leigh to face Skinner’s team – hoping to add to their points tally and lift themselves off the bottom of the WSL table.

And Skinner highlighted the way that Liverpool’s recent additions to the squad have changed their dynamic.

I think what [Gareth Taylor] wanted to add was mobility in his front line to be able to press,” he said in a press conference on Friday morning.

“You could see against Tottenham, they were pressing all over the place, and I think that is probably the identity he wants and he’s wanted from the start.

“I think that you could see the players were galvanised by those signings.

“It’ll be a tough challenge there, aggressive with the press, and I still think there are ways that you can hurt them, and we’ve got to zone in on those.

“They’re a totally different team. I expect that full energy coming at us on the weekend.”

Marc Skinner: No more transfers this window “unless there’s a miracle”

For his own part, Skinner says his transfer dealings are done for the time being ahead of the window closing next week.

“Even if it’s now or the summer window, we’ll continue to try and develop the squad, but right now, there’s nobody that’s imminent.

“I’m really happy with the work that we’ve done as a collective in this window, but we’re still working towards summer targets as well.

“So unless there’s a miracle, probably not [any more signings this window] in this moment.”

Manchester United are currently fourth in the league, one point behind Arsenal, who do not play a WSL match this weekend due to their FIFA Women’s Champions Cup commitments.
