Alisha Lehmann has confirmed her move to Leicester City from FC Como, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal.
It is a return to the Barclays Women’s Super League for the Swiss international after spells with West Ham United, Everton and Aston Villa.
And in quotes to the club’s official website and circulated to media, Lehmann said: “It feels amazing and I’m so happy to be here. It feels like a homecoming, coming back to England, and I’m really happy.
“Leicester is an amazing club. I’ve seen the training ground and, of course, the stadium. They want to push women’s football forward.”
The move had been rumoured for some weeks, with reports circulating of Lehmann training with the Leicester City squad.
Alisha Lehmann: Her career so far
Born in Tägertschi, Switzerland, Alisha began her senior career with Swiss Women’s Super League side BSC Young Boys Frauen in 2016, spending three seasons in the Swiss top flight before securing a move to the WSL with West Ham United.
In her first season there, she helped the Hammers reach the Women’s FA Cup Final.
In 2020-21, she spent a year on loan at Everton before a permanent transfer to Aston Villa, where she spent three seasons, making 75 league appearances and scoring 14 goals.
Since then, she has been in Italy, signing for Juventus and helping them to a Serie A title and a Coppa Italia double, before spending a season with FC Como.
On the international stage, Lehmann has 64 caps for Switzerland since making her senior debut 2017, aged 17.
Leicester City: their season
Leicester City’s next match in the Women’s Super League is against one of Lehmann’s former teams – second-bottom West Ham, who they face on Sunday.
The Foxes are currently ninth in the table, with nine points from their league campaign so far.
They were knocked out of the Women’s FA Cup last weekend by fellow WSL side Tottenham Hotspur.
