Newcastle United midfielder Jordan Nobbs has been named Barclays WSL2 Player of the Month following a combined public and panel vote. The award marks a significant milestone for the experienced midfielder, who continues to make a strong impact since her move to the North East.
The former Arsenal star played a decisive role during December as the Magpies secured successive league victories. She found the net in a narrow 1-0 win over Southampton before scoring again in a 2-1 triumph against Portsmouth. Those goals proved vital in maintaining momentum for the Magpies during a competitive period of the season and highlighted Nobbs’ ability to deliver in key moments.
Competition for the award was strong, with Bristol City’s Emily Syme, Crystal Palace’s Kirsty Howat and Nottingham Forest’s Aimee Claypole also shortlisted.
Despite the quality of the other contenders, Jordan Nobbs emerged victorious to claim the trophy for the first time since joining Newcastle United.
Sarri strike takes goal of the month
The Barclays WSL2 Goal of the Month award for December was secured by Birmingham City midfielder Veatriki Sarri. Her strike against Durham topped the voting polls and stood out among a strong field of nominations.
Sarri’s effort finished ahead of goals scored by Portsmouth’s Georgie Freeland against Charlton Athletic, Crystal Palace’s Shanade Hopcroft versus Birmingham City and Bristol City’s Lexi Lloyd-Smith against Sheffield United.

Emily Syme’s goal for Bristol City against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest’s Chantelle Boye Hlorkah against Sunderland were also among the nominees. The recognition highlights the technical quality and attacking flair on display across the league.
Potter praised for Palace progress
The League Managers’ Association confirmed that Crystal Palace head coach Jo Potter has been voted Barclays WSL2 Manager of the Month for December. The award reflects a strong run of results that saw the Eagles climb to fifth in the league standings as 2025 drew to a close.

Crystal Palace recorded back-to-back league victories with a commanding 3-0 win over Birmingham City followed by a dramatic 3-2 success against Bristol City. The team also progressed in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup with a 1-0 victory over Lewes. Although Palace suffered a narrow defeat to Arsenal in the quarter finals of the Subway Women’s League Cup, their overall performances during the month underlined the progress made under Potter’s guidance.
