Leicester City have a big decision to make ahead of this weekend’s match against Tottenham Hotspur – who is going to take on the captaincy after the departure of Janice Cayman this week.

And manager Rick Passmoor said to the media that there will be meetings on Saturday – and he will be guided by his players.

It’s player run, player decision or player ownership, so therefore they’ll come back to me with their recommendations,” he said in a press conference on Friday.

He added that Cayman’s decision to leave the club had been for her own personal reasons.

She came and approached Lee [Billiard, head of women’s football] and I a few days before Christmas, and we’re looking after the person,” said Passmoor of the Belgium international.

“She doesn’t owe football anything. She’d been in the top end of the game for 20 years, obviously Champions League. She’d been in all the tournaments for her nation. She’d not only been a credit for Leicester, but for the women’s game. So therefore we ensured that we’re looking after her first and foremost

“She’ll be a big loss, as we know that when she then announced it to the players, a few tears, a few hugs as well. She’s been, and she is, an incredible person, an incredible player, and obviously she’s done fantastic for Leicester, but under these circumstances the person comes first and therefore we want to look after her and she’ll obviously remain a Fox, with the Foxes, for many, many, many more years to come.”

Rick Passmoor: We are pleased with the three signings we’ve got

Passmoor will have new arrival Ash Neville available for selection against her former club as well as loanee Sarah Mayling and permanent signing Emma Jansson.

He would not be drawn on elaborating on the rumours that Rachel Williams might be another signing during the window, but said: “We’re really pleased with the three that we’ve got, and you’ve seen our intention, our growth, We will be always open during this transfer window, if we possibly can, to bring in other players.

“At the momentwe’re pleased with the three. We’ve got until the end of January to try and get other bodies in.”
