Which Lionesses have appeared on entertainment shows and how many of them won?

Karen Carney and Carlos Gu

With Karen Carney winning the Glitterball Trophy on Strictly Come Dancing, we take a look at the other Lionesses who have appeared on entertainment shows in the past.

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!: Jill Scott & Alex Scott

Jill Scott, Queen of the Jungle

Not only did Jill Scott take part in I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here – she was crowned Queen of the Jungle.

Scott was very much the pioneer of Lionesses on entertainment shows, as she became a nationwide icon following her successful series.

The former England midfielder appeared on season 22 of the show.

2022 was without a doubt the most eventful year of Scott’s career so far, as she was crowned European Champion with England in the summer.

Shortly after England’s home tournament win Scott announced her retirement from football.

Her success later that year on Im a Celebrity saw Scott shoot to fame. Since her appearance on the show, the 38-year-old has become a well respected pundit regularly covering women’s games.

The Queen of the Jungle also appears on the successful Overlap Podcast alongside fellow retired legends of football Ian Wright, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane.

Alex Scott joins 2025 show

For the first time since Jill Scott was crowned queen another Lioness appeared on the popular show this year.

Alex Scott didn’t fare quite as well as her former teammate, with the ex-Arsenal star voted out first from the jungle in 2025.

While her namesake may have pioneered Lionesses on entertainment shows, Alex Scott was at the forefront of female pundits getting into the spotlight.

After retiring in 2017 Scott stepped straight into punditry and she has led the way for women on both ITV and BBC in the past five years.

Pointless: Katie Zelem & Mary Earps

Katie Zelem and Mary Earps both appeared on a special celebrity Pointless episode early in 2025.

The former Manchester United duo advanced all the way to the final and collected the ÂŁ3,000 jackpot for their respective charities.

Earps endured a controversial year following her appearance on Pointless.

The 32-year-old retired from international football shortly before Euro 2025 and then followed up the decision by releasing her own tell-all biography.

Her book came under a lot of criticism as Earps dug out former teammates and managers, with the PSG number one not coming off well from the release.

Zelem is still playing football, with the experienced midfielder now playing for the London City Lionesses.

Strictly Come Dancing: Karen Carney

There has surprisingly never been a women’s footballer on Strictly Come Dancing up until this year.

Karen Carney became the first Lioness to appear on the show and she shocked the nation with her impressive performances.

After 13 difficult weeks in the ballroom, Carney made it all the way to the show’s final which was held two weeks before Christmas.

Despite being a long-shot for the competition Carney captured hearts across the nation and her vast improvement earned her a surprise win.

Former teammates Alessia Russo and Kim Little both featured on the final in a video message wishing Carney luck after a great run.

Now she has finished with Strictly, Carney will make her return to punditry and commentary. The former Chelsea captain has been a regular in both men and women’s football in the past year as a respected member of ITV and BBC’s presenting crew.

Which Lionesses could be next to feature?

There are a whole host of former Lionesses that could step into entertainment.

Chloe Kelly has previously expressed her desire to appear on Dancing on Ice and as a huge character for England football, it would be no surprise to see her on the show when her career winds down.

Kelly did also admit that she “can’t ice skate” despite her burning desire to take part.

Lucy Bronze is another to have joked about going on a TV show after her career ends. Bronze was in attendance for Karen Carney’s final performance on Strictly and could be sowing the seeds for a future show of her own.
