Manchester City’s Kerstin Casparij named November player of the month

Manchester City could challenge Arsenal and Chelsea for WSL title

After a perfect month with Manchester City, Dutch international Kerstin Casparij has been named WSL November player of the month.

Casparij anchored the City midfield as her team won three out of three games in the league.

WSL November player of the month: Kerstin Casparij

There were two Manchester City stars up for the November player of the month award but it was Kerstin Casparij who took home the award.

Casparij beat Khadija Shaw to the prize after one of her best individual months in the WSL.

The 25-year-old dominated in midfield against both Everton and West Ham before being rewarded with a player of the match performance in the Manchester derby.

Against United Casparij picked up two assists – her third and fourth of the season so far.

The City midfielder has been one of the most important parts of her team’s eight game winning run and being rewarded with her first player of the month award was a fitting end to a fantastic November.

Casparij was also named captain for City earlier this month as Alex Greenwood continues to recover from injury.

What next for Kerstin Casparij?

Casparij is now off with the Netherlands for the international break. The Dutch play friendlies against Portugal and South Korea to finish off what has been a good year for the national team.

When Casparij returns back to Manchester after the break things get serious for City.

The league leaders face two teams struggling in the WSL, with games against Leicester and Aston Villa.

It is crucial that City win both games against weaker opponents if they are to hold off Chelsea in top spot.

City have very favourable fixtures coming up during a busy winter period and they will be hoping to kick on at the top of the league before they face Arsenal and Chelsea in February.
