Subway League Cup quarter finalists: Who is in the hat for cup knockouts?

With the Subway League Cup group stage over, there are just eight teams remaining in the competition ahead of the quarter final draw.

The draw for the knockouts will take place at 6pm on Tuesday, November 25th.

Group stage sorts the strong from the weak

The League Cup group stage came to its conclusion over the weekend with the final round finishing on Sunday.

There wasn’t too many upsets in the early stages of the competition with WSL clubs dominating.

Tottenham, West Ham, Liverpool and Manchester City all topped their respective groups and are strong contenders to go far in the cup.

Crystal Palace were the only outliers to advance, as the Eagles beat London City Lionesses to the final spot in the last eight.

Palace are now the only remaining Championship side in the cup and they face a stiff test with whoever they are drawn against.

The five group winners will be joined in the quarters by all three English teams competing in the Champions League.

Champions League teams join late

There are three new teams entering the League up at the knockout stage.

The three clubs who qualified for the Champions League were exempt from the group stage due to their busy schedules.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea all earned a bye through the group stage after their strong WSL campaign’s last year.

The winners for this year’s competition are likely to be one of the teams competing in Europe, as only Arsenal, Chelsea and City have ever won the tournament in its history.

With that being said, all of the Champions League teams have a much more packed schedule this year which could catch up to them as they enter the League Cup.
