Celtic women confirm departure of two summer signings after struggling to settle in Glasgow

Despite only joining Celtic in summer, Grace Courter has already reportedly left the club

The season has gone from bad to worse for Celtic women, as two summer signings have left the club after failing to settle into life in Glasgow.

Aislin Streicek and Grace Courter have both been absent from the team since October.

Celtic lose two summer signings

It has been a far from ideal start for Celtic women this season.

The Ghirls are lacking behind in the league and they are already seven points behind Glasgow City in the SWPL.

Despite their poor form to start the campaign, Celtic bounced back over the weekend with an important win against Partick Thistle.

After the game, Celtic boss Elena Sadiku confirmed where two summer signings have disappeared to.

The Swedish manager has been without Aislin Streicek and Grace Courter since Halloween. Celtic had officially listed the duo unavailable with illness, but that has now been confirmed to be far from the truth.

Following the Partick Thistle win, Sadiku revealed that both of Celtic’s summer signings have left the club.

Neither of the pair managed to settle into life in Scotland and both players have been released from the squad.

Is Celtic’s season over already?

Celtic have their backs against the wall already as we pass the midway point in the season.

There is a difficult run of fixtures coming up for the team and losing two players couldn’t have come at a worse time.

After the international break the Ghirls have just three games before Christmas. Celtic play Aberdeen, Hibernian and finally Hearts before the winter break.

With Sadiku’s team struggling for results, they need to start picking up wins and fast.

Only the top six advance to the Championship round and Celtic look unlikely to drop out of those spots, but that won’t be enough for a team with high expectations.
