Beth Mead has been named Arsenal’s player of the month for October, showing that she is still valuable to the club eight years after joining.
Mead was heavily linked with a move away from North London in the summer but chose to stay with the Gunners for at least one more year.

Mead scored her first goal of the season in October, with a go-ahead goal in Portugal as Arsenal beat Benfica in the Champions League. The veteran forward also picked up an assist against Lyon during their first loss in the competition this year.
Her performances in the Champions League were without a doubt the best of her season so far
In the WSL Mead struggled to find form last month and she was benched for both of their league games against Manchester City and Brighton.
The Lioness has been used sparingly in the league to start the campaign. Mead’s limited minutes are largely due to the arrivals of Chloe Kelly and Olivia Smith, who joined Arsenal in the summer to increase the competition out wide.
What next for Beth Mead and Arsenal?
Arsenal have some important fixtures coming up and Mead will be hoping to be more involved over the next month.
The Gunners face their stiffest test in the Champions League on Wednesday night with a trip to Munich where they will face German champions Bayern.
Following their European clash, Arsenal then face Tottenham in the North London derby.
Another difficult game in Europe comes up after that, with Real Madrid visiting the Emirates Stadium for what should be an electric European night.
With the Gunners trailing behind Manchester City, United and Chelsea in the WSL, they need to stop dropping points in the league and fast.
Mead’s experience could prove to be invaluable as we approach the midway point in the season and the 30-year-old is sure to play a crucial role in the rest of Arsenal’s campaign.
