Millie Bright receives backlash as she chooses to not comment on Mary Earps-Hannah Hampton saga

Chelsea's Millie Bright signs contract extension. Most WSL appearances

Mary Earps’ autobiography has sent waves through the England football community, but former Lionesses Rachel Daly and Millie Bright chose not to comment on the situation on their podcast this week.

Daly and Bright discussed the situation on ‘The Rest Is Football: Daly Brightness podcast’.

Millie Bright and Rachel Daly refuse to address drama

As Chelsea captain, it was a surprise to see Millie Bright brush over the recent drama surrounding two of her former and current teammates.

Mary Earps’ autobiography has been a real eye opener, but one player in particular came off bad from the book.

After she was replaced by Hannah Hampton in the England setup, Earps went in on Hampton for creating an ‘uncomfortable situation’ in the camp.

Various former Lionesses have come out and addressed the situation with almost everyone taking the side of England’s current number one.

However the same can’t be said for Millie Bright or Rachel Daly. The duo discussed the recent drama on their podcast, but said: “We’ve seen your tweets, we know you want us to have a gossip, we’ve seen them all.”

The pair laughed off the situation and refused to comment as they hope to spread positivity on their platform instead.

That would have been an acceptable response if Hampton had been firing shots at Earps, but the drama is very one sided at this point. The Chelsea number one also admitted before the book was published that she has ‘no bad blood’ with Earps.

Why is the Chelsea captain receiving backlash?

Millie Bright particularly has received backlash for not taking a stance on the situation.

The Chelsea captain is still a teammate of Hannah Hampton and having opted not to comment it almost seemed as though she was taking the side of former England teammate Earps.

Bright retired from international duty shortly after the Euros this year, but she wasn’t included in the squad for her own personal and physical reasons.

This isn’t the first time Bright has ignored Hampton. An old clip has resurfaced of Hampton pleading with Bright on the pitch only to be ignored by her captain.

Fans are now suggesting that there may be a more long-standing issue between Hampton and Bright.

Chelsea face Arsenal this weekend in arguably the biggest game of their season so far and all eyes will be on Hampton and Bright.
