Arsenal face off against Chelsea this weekend in the WSL and they can cut the gap to first place down to two points with a win on matchday eight.
Chelsea’s unbeaten run
Sonia Bompastor has had Chelsea in remarkable form since she joined the club in July 2024.
The French boss is still yet to lose a league game in England, with her team last losing in the WSL to Liverpool in May of last year.
It has now been 33 games since Chelsea lost in the league and they stand on the doorstep of history in their next two matches.
The longest unbeaten run in England is 34 games without a loss. Chelsea hold that record with a two-year period between 2019 and 2o21 when they went invincible in the WSL.
Having won six and drawn one this season, Chelsea are yet again on track for another invincible season in the WSL.
If they were to go the whole campaign without a loss the Blues could record a historic fourth invincible season and the first-ever back to back.
Chelsea striker Sam Kerr is looking forward to the Arsenal game but she admitted that the Emirates will be a tough place to go this weekend.

Arsenal finding form?
It seems Arsenal are facing Chelsea at a good time, as after a difficult start to the season the Gunners are starting to build momentum in the WSL.
Renee Slegers’ team won last weekend in a 4-1 win that seemed to rediscover their attacking groove.

Arsenal have won their last three on the bounce and with two clean sheets from those games, the defence will be hopeful of keeping Chelsea at bay on Saturday.
A win for the Gunners on Saturday would close the gap to Chelsea down to just two points at the top of the table.
However a win for Chelsea could spell the end of the title charge for Arsenal this year, as they would be eight points adrift of the leaders with three more teams between them and first place.
The head to head record between these teams favours Chelsea in recent years and Arsenal haven’t beat the reigning champions since winning at home in 2023.
