Maya Le Tissier was finally given her chance for England over the weekend and her stats against Brazil support the United defender in her hopes to start at the 2027 World Cup.
Although England lost to Brazil in the opener of their Homecoming Tour, Maya Le Tissier impressed at the back.

Sarina Wiegman has been harsh on her treatment of Maya Le Tissier since she became England boss.
The manager has constantly left Le Tissier out of her starting lineup. Wiegman has also insisted that when the defender does play she is better on the right side of defence.

Speaking before the game, Wiegman admitted that she wants to try new things during friendlies.
“You have to find opportunities to try things out,” she said. “You don’t get that many opportunities to do that any more in international windows. Now we have these friendlies and yes, of course, we want to win every single game, but it is also an opportunity to try out things and to see different players and combinations.
“That’s what we’re going to try to do, because it might be the last period we can do that in.”
With that being said, the United captain was finally given her chance to start in England’s defence this weekend.
Against Brazil Le Tissier was a force to be reckoned with. The 23-year-old was frustratingly played at full-back but she still put her bet foot forward for the Lionesses.

On her eighth cap for England, Le Tissier made seven recoveries and won all three of her aerial duels.
In possession she was also good on the ball, with 89% pass completion rate and 100% of dribbles completed during 90 minutes on the pitch.
Le Tissier has proved that she can be relied on in defence for both club and country and she has now made a case to start for the Lionesses at the 2027 World Cup.
What next for Maya Le Tissier?
Following a good performance against Brazil, Le Tissier will now be looking forward to England’s next friendly.
The Lionesses face off against Australia on Tuesday night as thy look to make amends for the Brazil defeat.
All eyes will be on not just if Le Tissier plays – but where on the pitch as well.
With Leah Williamson and Katie Reid both picking up injuries before the camp, there should be a spot in the middle of defence for Le Tissier.
But Weigman still seems instant on playing the United defender out wide, which has continued to frustrate fans.
