Aggie Beever-Jones reflects on ‘year to remember’ after picking up England award

Chelsea’s Aggie Beever-Jones has reflected on her breakout year for the Lionesses after being awarded the top goalscorer award for 2024/25.

The 22-year-old picked up her first international award after scoring six for the Lionesses last season.

England women are blessed with their attacking options and Aggie Beever-Jones has given Sarina Wiegman a real selection headache this year.

The Chelsea forward has been in formidable form since breaking through the ranks last season.

Beever-Jones was given a chance for the Blues after Sam Kerr’s injury and the striker has flourished ever since.

After a good end to the year with Chelsea last season, Beever-Jones earned her first call-up to a major tournament at Euro 2025.

At the Euros Beever-Jones was predominantly used off the bench. Despite being a substitute, the forward made an instant impact with a goal against Wales in the group stage.

Prior to competing in the Euros, the Lioness was an important part of England’s team at the Nations League.

In her first start for England Beever-Jones netted a hat-trick against Portugal. Her 30 minute hat-trick at Wembley was one of the quickest in Lionesses history.

This season England’s superstar striker has continued her impressive form and she was named WSL player of the month for the first time after netting four in her first four league games for Chelsea.

Beever-Jones reflects on England breakthrough

The Chelsea forward was awarded with England’s top scorer award for the 2024/25 campaign while the Lionesses prepare to kick off their Homecoming Tour.

After being given the award, Beever-Jones reflected on the best year of her career to date.

“It’s definitely been a year to remember in terms of Chelsea and England. To come away with the top goalscorer is something that didn’t even occur to me or had in my thoughts, so it’s a nice little surprise to end a great year.

“I look back to the hat-trick at Wembley and it’s definitely something that sticks out for me. My mum and dad used to take me to Cobham every day for training and on the A3 there’s one part where you can see the Wembley arch and they’d always say, ‘just keep going and maybe one day, you’ll play there’.

“It was my first start at Wembley and a hat-trick in 33 minutes which is a number that means a lot to me at Chelsea, everything just fell into place and it was definitely a nice takeaway from 2024-25.”

There is fierce competition to be England’s number nine, but Beever-Jones remains just behind Alessia Russo in the rankings after Arsenal’s striker finished third in the Ballon d’Or running.

Even if she doesn’t start for the Lionesses, Beever-Jones will almost certainly feature against Brazil and Australia in England’s upcoming friendlies.
