West Ham vs Aston Villa preview
Matchday 5 is upon us for the Women’s Super League and both West Ham and Aston Villa are still searching for their first wins of the season.
West Ham are rock bottom of the table with four straight defeats, conceding 14 goals and scoring just two.
Aston Villa have just two points on the board but have had a tough start to the season, and have also played one game fewer after their clash with Liverpool was postponed due to the death of Matt Beard.
Natalia Arroyo’s side have held Arsenal and Brighton to draws, and did show some positives in a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea.
Their main weakness has been in front of goal, with just two goals from those three matches. That is despite creating plenty of chances, taking 40 shots over those three games.
Villa fans won’t be too concerned given that they have played three teams who finished in the top-five last season. However, a defeat to bottom-of-the-table West Ham could be a cause for concern.
The Hammers, meanwhile, will be determined to put things right after their slow start to the campaign.
Rehanne Skinner will want a much better performance from her side following their 4-0 loss at home to Chelsea.
She said after the game that West Ham’s mentality improved after the red card of Ines Belloumou for pulling Alyssa Thompson’s hair. The problem was Chelsea were already 3-0 up within the opening 15 minutes.
It’s nearly time for a Claret & Blue showdown ⚡

West Ham vs Aston Villa team news
There is a big positive for pointless West Ham after Rehanne Skinner confirmed that there is a fully fit squad for this weekend’s clash with Aston Villa.
The only player missing will be Ines Belloumou after the midfielder’s needless hair pull on Alyssa Thompson last week.
Aston Villa fans will be keen for updates on Jill Baijings after she went off holding her knee against Arsenal. Miriael Taylor could slot in if Baijings is unavailable.
Their squad will include Rachel Daly, fresh off being awarded an MBE for her services to football.
Predicted lineups
West Ham: Szemik; Denton, Nystrom, Tysiak, Zadorsky; Siren, Gorry; Csiki, Ueki, Asseyi; Martinez
Aston Villa: D’Angelo; Wilms, Patten, Deslandes; Grant, Kendall, Taylor, Maltby; Daly; Salmon, Kearns
West Ham vs Aston Villa prediction
Both sides are without a win but Aston Villa have looked the better of the two sides this season.
They have show signs of attacking threat in all three of their matches so far, but need to be more clinical in front of goal.
West Ham’s defence is a major concern, having conceded at least four goals in each of their last three WSL matches.
This one will be a bit closer, but SheKicks predicts a 2-1 victory on the road for Villa.
Prediction: West Ham 1-2 Aston Villa
