Key fixtures to look out for on WSL opening weekend

The first game of the season is an absolute thriller with Manchester City travelling to Stamford Bridge.

Having won the last six Premier League titles in a row, there is no do doubt that Chelsea will be short favourites with betting websites to win their opening fixture.

Only one game will be shown on the first Saturday of the WSL season. Arsenal take on newly promoted London City Lionesses, with BBC One broadcasting the match.

This clash could be even more interesting if Beth Mead moves across London before the season like rumours suggest.

On Sunday, September 7th there will be four games on TV which are all to be broadcast across Sky channels. All of the Sunday fixtures kick off at 12pm.

Those four games include the Merseyside derby which should provide fans with some early excitement on the first matchday.

A London derby will also be shown by Sky on the first weekend of the WSL season as West Ham making the short trip across the city to face Spurs.

Brighton vs Aston Villa and Manchester United vs Leicester round out the first weekend of games.
