Hereford FC retained the Zzoomm Herefordshire FA Women’s County Cup following a 3-1 win over city rivals Hereford Pegasus at Edgar Street.

The Bullettes broke the deadlock after only six minutes, when Sheree Smith broke free into the Pegasus penalty area and beat goalkeeper Katie Wood at her near post.

Pegasus were back on level terms within quarter of an hour, as experienced midfielder Emily Morgan beat goalkeeper Darcie Smith with a 20-yard drive.

However, Hereford regained the lead before the half-hour mark, Smith being on hand to finish a neat move with her second goal of the final.

The match was delayed on the hour mark following an injury to Pegasus forward Roxy Dinescu, before play was able to resume.

The final remained in the balance until Jess Kenny’s 20-yard strike beat Wood via the underside of the crossbar.

Pegasus’s Harriet Adams was awarded Player of the Match following the final whistle but it was Hereford FC who celebrated lifting the county cup.
