Manchester City joined Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United in the FA Women’s Continental Cup semi-finals after a big win over Brighton & Hove Albion at a foggy Academy Stadium.
The hosts were ahead just 6 minutes in as Nikita Parris netted her 50th goal for the club but Brighton were quickly level through a Dani Buet penalty, after Ini Umotong was brought down by Karen Bardsley.
Sophie Harris tipped a powerful Parris strike over the top but midway through the half Lauren Hemp drilled in from close range to restore the lead.
City extended their advantage just before the hour mark, Caroline Weir arrowing a shot into the far corner of the Albion net.
Hemp doubled her tally on 85 minutes to start a late goal-rush, Claire Emslie curled in City’s fifth, with Georgia Stanway and Janine Beckie also getting on the scoresheet.
The Semi-Final draw will take place on Saturday 12 January during half time of the Sheffield United v QPR EFL fixture at Bramall Lane, the venue for the final of the competition on 23 February.
