Prestigious schools finals took place at Reading Football Club’s Madejski Stadium over three days last week, with some of England’s finest secondary school aged footballers meeting to decide the national champions. The finals were part of the PlayStation Schools’ Cup Festival, the culmination of the fifth season of the exciting grassroots partnership between PlayStation and the ESFA.

In total, 15 national football finals from U12-U15 secondary school age groups, featuring both girls’ and boys’ teams took place, and we have images from three of the girls’ schools’ finals to share with you.

The U13 girls from Bohunt School in Wokingham were particularly happy because England and Manchester City captain Steph Houghton, who supports the competition, was on hand to present them with their trophy. Well done to all teams that took part, commiserations but respect to the losing finalists for contributing to some superb football action and a big up to the winners on their national glory!

All games were given the full professional HD TV treatment. A post-event match highlights package featuring every final will be uploaded to the PlayStation Schools’ Cup YouTube channel in the coming days.

The Festival also provided a memorable occasion for school friends and family members. The vocal travelling support, who arrived in their numbers, were treated to freestyle football displays, PlayStation 4 gaming experiences, half-time crossbar challenges and prize giveaways provided by PlayStation.

The partnership between PlayStation and ESFA started in September 2013, and has helped increase the engagement in competitive football for secondary school age categories. This season tournaments involved over 2,000 schools and 200,000 participants.
