Sheffield FC Sign Sophie Jones

Sheffield FC Ladies say that the Liverpool-born player has impressed over the past three season’s in the FA Premier League, for Preston North End initially and then Blackburn for the past two seasons, scoring an impressive 14 goals in 20 appearances for Rovers in the last campaign.

Jones feels she is ready for a new challenge, and is looking forward to getting started with her new team mates.

The forward admitted her delight in making the move to Sheffield: “I’m very happy to sign for such great club, with one with a great history in women’s football. This is an exciting time for myself to start a new challenge, and to hopefully help the team achieve success in the FA WSL 2.”

And Sheffield’s boss, Zoe Johnson, affirmed her satisfaction at being able to bring Jones into the squad at this time: “I’m delighted to secure the signing of Sophie. She will bring another attacking threat to our squad and has a real eye for goal, so will be an important member of the team as we look to add more goals.

“She’s a player the club knows well having competed against Sheffield in the FA Women’s Premier League over the past three seasons, and a player I have personally always thought highly of.”
