2016-17 Premier League Constitution

Leicester City WFC and Middlesbrough take their place in the Northern Division, where the former can look forward to a couple of East Midlands derbies, while Boro will take on local rivals Newcastle United. Preston North End WFC have become Fylde Ladies.

With Brighton elevated to WSL 2, Forest Green Rovers were spared relegation from the Southern Division as the eleventh-placed team. Upwardly mobile are Crystal Palace and Swindon Town, with the Eagles set for a South London derby with Charlton Athletic.

Loughborough Foxes dropped into the Midlands Division 1 and amongst their opponents will be newcomers Long Eaton United from Nottinghamshire and Shropshire-based TNS.

Brighouse Town and Crewe Alexandra will make their FAWPL debuts in Northern Division 1, which includes relegated Guiseley AFC Vixens.

AFC Wimbledon will clash with MK Dons after their promotion to South East Division 1. Stevenage also come up and Lowestoft Town escape demotion but will be hoping to do more than just making up the numbers.

Basingstoke Town and Somerset’s Brislington come into the South West, into which Plymouth Argyle fall.

The 3 Reserves Divisions are now almost at full capacity, with 34 teams set to compete, which is up 8 on last season.

Fixtures are due to be released around mid-July.
