It has been a two horse race for the whole of the season between the nation’s two best sides, with City proving victorious over Hibernian in the League Cup Final and finishing the campaign as League Champions with the Edinburgh outfit taking the runners-up spot.
With four hugely entertaining games between the two teams already this season, the showpiece Cup Final is shaping up to be the most eagerly awaited final in years.
Commenting on the task awaiting his team, Glasgow City Head Coach, Scott Booth said, “The whole club is really looking forward to meeting Hibs in the final. They’ve had an excellent League campaign and will be hoping that they can add a trophy to their cabinet on the last day of the season. It shows how tight all competitions are becoming. All of the meetings this season have been close run things but brilliant for a neutral spectator. Especially the two 3-3 draws.
“For ourselves, we must remain focused and see out the campaign on a high. Only a win and a treble will satisfy everyone involved with Glasgow City. A fourth straight treble would be an unbelievable achievement especially when it’s coupled with 9 back to back league titles.”
Glasgow City versus Hibernian is this Sunday at Ainslie Park, Spartans FC, Edinburgh. Kick off is 2pm and spectators can pay at the gate – £5 adult and £2 concessions. The match is also live on BBC Alba.
