Dramatic Manx Cup Triumph For Douglas Royal

Douglas Royal were 5-3 winners over Peel in the Regency Travel Isle of Man FA Cup final on Tuesday 9th May, thanks to a late treble.

Douglas Royal had won six of the fourteen finals to date but had been without success in the last half a dozen seasons and had a battle to stay in the game, as Peel twice took the lead.

Vanessa Christian's opener was cancelled out by Donna Shimmin and although Eleanor Gawne restored the lead, Shimmin replied a second time.

There was no further addition to the score until late on in the game, when Rebecca Cole's six-minute hat-trick - apparently the fastest ever in the final - proved decisive.

Peel still kept going through and Sarah O’Reilly added an injury-time third for her side.
