Wrexham Women grab last-gasp winner in Bute Energy Wales Cup

Wrexham AFC Women needed a last-minute goal to avoid a penalty shoot-out against lower division Llandudno in the Bute Energy Wales Cup 2nd Round.

Second-tier Llandudno took top-flight Wrexham all the way, before losing out to a stoppage-time goal. In front of over 500 fans at Cefn Druids FC, Katie Sharp made the dramatic late breakthrough, Tonicha Dickens providing the assist.

Cardiff City Women were 5-0 winners over Swansea University, Mackenzie Olden and Hannah Power on target before the break and three goals following in a six-minute spell by the hour mark from Olden, Rhianne Oakley and Hollie Smith.

Cascade’s Ellis Lunn came on for the last half-hour or so at Penybont, notching a hat-trick in a 6-0 win.

Aberystwyth Town’s Niamh Duggan, Gwenllian Jones and Leucu Mathias all bagged a brace – the latter also contributing two assists – in an 8-0 victory at Rhyl.

Georgia Griffiths, Danielle Staley, Helen Evans and Emily Ridge shared the spoils as The New Saints eliminated Felinheli 4-0.

Efa Preece-Jones hit a double hat-trick and Gracie Grosvenor got four goals, as Pontypridd United overran Aberaman 17-0.
