Women’s Regional Leagues: 6-5 wins for Leicester and Weston

Women’s Regional Leagues results featured two 6-5 thrillers as Leicester City Ladies and Weston Super Mare just came out on top.

EASTERN – Sudbury sub sends them second

Premier – AFC Sudbury substitute Caitlyn Charles scored in a 3-2 defeat of Colney Heath that sent them second, Needham Market beat Kings Lynn Town 3-0 to go third, Stevenage and Haringey Borough slipping to fourth and fifth respectively after drawing 4-4.

1 North – Leaders Biggleswade United beat third-placed Newmarket Town 4-1, AFC Dunstable went one better against St Ives Town with Gemma Whitchurch grabbing a hat-trick. Haverhill Rovers’ 3-2 win over Wootton Blue Cross was helped by a Laura Mills double, while Fakenham Town’s Sophie Lubbock netted a treble in the 8-3 goalfest win with Yaxley Phoenix.

EAST MIDLANDS – Leicester City Ladies edge 11-goal game

Premier – Notts County remained top with a 5-2 defeat of Arnold Eagles, Lincoln United edged Chesterfield 3-2 in the meeting of second and third. Anstey Nomads’ Monique Price hit a hat-trick during the 4-2 win at Oughtibridge WM.

1 Central – The top three all won, Asfordby Amateurs 6-3 over West Bridgford, Dronfield Town 4-2 against Sherwood with all their goals in the first ten minutes of the second half, Ilkeston Town putting five past Notts County Devs.

1 North – Gainsborough Trinity got all five goals at Lincoln United Devs, Grimsby Borough drew 1-1 with Sleaford Town.

1 South – Northampton Town Devs extended their lead 2-0 against Loughborough Foxes Vixens as sub Kaitlyn Crouch got both, Kettering Town are up to second on goal-difference above Peterborough United Devs, whom they beat with a Lauren Adams effort. Leicester City Ladies won by the odd goal in 11 at Dunton & Broughton United, with three for Hollie Handisides.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Fulham defeat leaders 

Premier – Fulham won away to leaders Millwall Lionesses, Ede Buchele coming off the bench to seal the victory at 3-1. Enfield Town won 5-0 at New London Lionesses, aided by Olivia Syson’s hat-trick they climb to fifth.

1 North – A crowd of 298 saw top side Clapton held 1-1 at home by Dulwich Hamlet Reserves, Dorking Wanderers ran out 5-1 winners at second-placed Brentford.

1 South – Hastings United’s Sian Heather struck five times in an 8-1 scoreline at Maidstone United to go three points clear, Welling United hit Bromley 6-2 to move within a point of them.

NORTH EAST – Quick hat-tricks for Roe and Wright

Premier – Chester le Street Town are clear leaders following a 4-2 result against Sunderland West End in which Nichole Havery netted twice, Alnwick Town beat Hull United 2-0 with a Katie Ellwood double.

1 North – Thornaby’s Rhian Roe struck an 18-minute treble to set them on their way to a 7-1 score at Guisborough Town, Bishop Auckland hit West Allotment Celtic 6-1 with Emma Wright getting three in the first 25 minutes. Wallsend BC Reserves’ sub Rose Rikkerink found the winner for 3-2 at Gateshead, Washington’s Jessica Cook got the decider for 2-1 at Chester le Street United, Spennymoor Town won 5-2 at Hartlepool Pools Youth.

1 South – Barnsley FC Ladies beat Farsley Celtic Juniors 6-3 with three goals for Jodie Gregory, knocking Handsworth off first place on goal-difference. Jade Nelson’s hat-trick for Bradford Park Avenue was all in vain as Millmoor left 4-3 victors with doubles by Crystal Lisle and Laura Machin, while Sheffield United Foundation overcame Sheffield Wednesday 4-2.

NORTH WEST – Bury and Penrith both win on pens

Premier – FC United of Manchester beat Blackburn CSC 4-0 to stride three points ahead of Salford City Lionesses  at the top. Tranmere Rovers edged Curzon Ashton 3-2 to leapfrog them into fourth.

1 North – Blackpool beat Carlisle United 2-0 to take pole position from Haslingden, Chorley Devs took the points 2-0 at Sir Tom Finney, while it was 0-0 between Workington Reds and Morecambe.

1 South – Northwich Vixens rose two places to fifth after winning 5-0 at Altrincham.

Argyle Sports Kit 2nd Rd – Two ties were decided on penalties, Bury AFC won 5-4 after being deadlocked at 3-3 with Fleetwood Town Wrens, Penrith took the shoot-out 3-1 pens having ended 1-1 with Mossley Hill. Crewe Alexandra progressed 3-0 at Haslingden, Accrington Stanley won 3-2 at Bolton Wanderers.

SOUTHERN – Abingdon United go top

Premier – Abingdon United are top after seeing off Eastleigh 3-0, Ascot United second having won 5-1 at Wycombe Wanderers. Abingdon Town’s 3-1 win at Oxford City moved them in front of their hosts.

1 North – There was a 4-1 win for leaders Milton United at Caversham United, Woodley United are clear in second after beating Penn & Tylers Green 4-0.

1 South – Badshot Lea beat Selsey Devs 2-1 to take the leadership off Chichester City, Abbey Rangers’ Ella Maclellan scored twice during a 3-2 success at Rushmoor.

League Cup 1st Rd – Long Crendon eliminated Carterton by five goals to nil.

SOUTH WEST – Roberts scores five for Weston’s first win

Premier – Forest Green Rovers moved five points beyond the rest with as many goals at Bishops Lydeard, Bristol Rovers sent Poole Town to a 5-2 defeat with a Georgia Vandries hat-trick as they went second on goal-difference.

1 East  Weston Super Mare’s Ellie Roberts scored five times for their first win, an extraordinary 6-5 defeat of second-placed AEK Boco.

1 West – Sticker topped the table on goal-difference with their 6-1 beating of Budleigh Salterton.

WEST MIDLANDS – Six-goal Shifnal Town hit summit

Premier – Shrewsbury Town’s Madison Jones scored four in a 5-2 victory at Solihull Sporting, Burton Albion beat Crusaders 2-0, Lye Town saw off Redditch United 3-1.

1 North – Shifnal Town sank City of Stoke 6-1 to go top, replacing Walsall FC who were held 2-2 at home by Darlaston Town. Coventry City subs Sandra Dziedzic and Georgia Furlong both scored to beat Tamworth 2-1, Sian McHugh’s second-half brace rescued Port Vale a point from a 2-2 tie with Lichfield City Reserves.

1 South – Knowle’s 6-1 beating of Bewdley Town featured a four-goal haul for Demi-Lee Rolph and put them nine points ahead of the rest. Worcester City Devs’ 4-3 win lifted them above visitors Kingfisher, Leamington Lions defeated Droitwich Spa 4-0, Rugby Town versus Sedgley & Gornal United finished one apiece.
