Women’s Internationals: Spain beat US, Norway down Dutch

Tuesday’s international friendlies featured victory for a depleted Spain team over a much-changed USA side.

Spain pulled off a 2-0 victory over the USA, Maitane Lopez netting close to the interval and Esther Gonzalez later sealing the win.

Norway won 2-0 away to the Netherlands with two second-half goals. Sophie Haug made the breakthrough after the hour mark, with Sherida Spitse conceding an own-goal.

Sweden sent ten-player France to a 3-0 defeat, Filippa Angeldahl scoring in the first minute. Amanda Illestedt doubled the led on the hour and Aissatou Tounkara was sent-off, before Madelen Janogy completed the scoring.

Australia came from behind to defeat Denmark 3-1. Karen Holmgaard scored in the first minute, the Matildas replying with three goals in a ten-minute second-half spell. Caitlin Foord netted either side of a goal by Katrina Gorry.

Costa Rica hit back twice in a few second-half minutes to beat the Philippines 2-1. Carleigh Frilles’ goal was cancelled out by Raquel Rodriguez’s penalty, before Gloriana Villalobos got the winner.
