Vitality Women’s FA Cup 3rd Rd: Bristol City face Southampton again

Vitality Women's FA Cup 3rd Round Proper

The Vitality Women’s FA Cup 3rd Round features a clash between two Championship title rivals; Bristol City and Southampton.

The pair drew at Ashton Gate earlier this term and also met in last season’s competition when the Saints – then a third-tier team – eliminated Bristol City with an extra-time winner.

Two other all-second tier ties see Blackburn Rovers face Sunderland and Crystal Palace welcome Watford for an evening match.

Portsmouth have perhaps the toughest tie possible in visiting Championship leaders London City Lionesses, while MK Dons go to Charlton Athletic for a noon kick-off.

Peterborough United take on Durham, Stockport County also try to straddle a two-division gap when travelling to Coventry United.

Birmingham City host Huddersfield Town at Nuneaton Borough FC, Sheffield United entertain Nottingham Forest at Bramall Lane, while another Championship side have home advantage as Lewes meet London Bees.

AFC Wimbledon play Gillingham at Plough Lane, Newcastle United – who had a crowd of over 28,500 in the second round – entertain FAWNL Northern Premier leaders Wolves.

Bournemouth Sports are the only team from beyond the fourth tier remaining, the Southern League side face a testing away day at Cardiff City Ladies who sit top of the FAWNL Division 1 South West.
