Jenny Danielsson and Morgan Steedman have collected the first individual awards of the 2022/23 Scottish Women’s Premier League season.
Rangers forward Danielsson wins the August SWPL Player of the Month award and St Johnstone striker Steedman collects the same award for SWPL 2.
In the SWPL, Rangers and Danielsson have had a fine start to the season. They’ve won all four of their league matches, scoring 29 goals and conceding none in the process. In Europe, they have also qualified for the 2nd Round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, where they’ll face Benfica.
Danielsson featured in all four SWPL matches for Rangers, scoring two goals in the process. This included coming off the bench against Heart of Midlothian to help her side to a 2-0 victory before grabbing two goals against Hamilton Academical.
In SWPL 2, St Johnstone also enjoy a 100% record having won all four of their games. The Perth side have scored nine goals and conceded four, putting them top of the table and clear of Gartcairn by three points.
Steedman has played a crucial role for her side, playing the full 90 minutes in each game. She has also scored three goals and provided one assist, playing a role in just under half of all St Johnstone’s goals this season.
The Player of the Month awards will be voted on by the SWPL and SWPL 2 clubs for the 2022/23 season.
The nominees for the August SWPL award were Jenna Clark (Glasgow City), Clarissa Larisey (Celtic), and Georgia Timms (Heart of Midlothian) and for the SWPL 2 award the nominees were Ami Robertson (Gartcairn) and Abby Robinson (Kilmarnock)
