Spurs Women beaten on penalties in Ramon de Carranza Trophy final

Tottenham Hotspur lost out to Athletic Club Bilbao 5-4 on penalties in the final of the pre-season Ramon de Carranza Trophy in Cadiz.

Spurs had had a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Real Betis on Tuesday night, with Lucy Quinn’s opener cancelled out by Marta Canzalla before Kit Graham came off the bench to score what proved to be the winning goal.

The FA WSL newcomers were ahead in Wednesday night’s match, Ashleigh Neville’s through ball finding Angela Addison who slotted home in the 11th minute.

Spurs lost Jesica Naz to injury in the second half and with the game deep into added time, Lucia Garcia levelled for the Spanish side.

It was then the same player who eventually converted the decisive penalty in the shoot-out.
