Sheffield United Women sign young striker Isobel Goodwin

Sheffield United sign Isobel Goodwin

Sheffield United have signed 20-year-old Isobel Goodwin who played for Coventry United in the Barclays Women’s Championship last season.

Goodwin appeared in the WSL for Aston Villa before joining Coventry (now Rugby Borough) in January this year and scoring four goals in the second half of the season.

Goodwin said: “I’m very happy. Being at the likes of Bramall Lane week in, week out is what dreams are made of so I’m really happy to be here.

“The first conversation I had with Jonno [Jonathan Morgan], I wanted to come here straight away. With his and the club’s ambitions, I’m really happy to be here.”

Head coach Jonathan Morgan commented: “Izzy is very difficult to defend against and I think a lot of clubs found that out last season. We looked at Izzy’s stats, we looked at them very detailed and we soon saw if she had a full season she’d be one of the top performers based off last season.

“She was one of our top targets, we really went after her and there were a lot of conversations to show her and her family Sheffield United was the right move for her.”
