Ahead of the new season, it has been confirmed that Scottish Women’s Premier League 2 clubs will face each other four times for an equal number of home and away ties.

The change comes after Partick Thistle were promoted to SWPL 1 to take the place of Forfar Farmington, who had withdrawn.

This left just seven teams in SWPL 2, so instead of playing each other three times, that is increased to four for a total of 24 league matches each.

There will be no relegation from SWPL 2 in the 2021/22 season, meaning that both SWPL 1 and SWPL 2 will have 10 teams for the 2022/23 season.

The new season commences on Sunday 5 September, with the following fixtures:

SWPL 1

Hibernian v Spartans (12:00)
Glasgow City v Motherwell (1pm) – Live on BBC Sport Scotland
Hearts v Hamilton Academical (2pm)
Rangers P-P Partick Thistle (Covid related)
Aberdeen v Celtic (4.10pm) – Live on BBC Alba

SWPL 2

Glasgow Women v Kilmarnock (12:00)
Boroughmuir Thistle v St Johnstone (2pm)
Dundee United v Stirling University (2.45pm)
