Regional Leagues Round-up: Barking promoted

Six-goal Barking were promoted to the Eastern League Premier Division, while Lincoln United sealed second spot in the East Midlands.

EASTERN – Barking promoted, Stevenage reach final

Premier – AFC Sudbury took a step nearer the title with a 5-3 victory over Royston Town, with four goals from Holly Kennard. Haringey Borough won 4-1 at Colney Heath, Kings Lynn Town beat Bowers & Pitsea 2-1, Luton Town held 1-1 by visitors Wroxham.

1 North – Biggleswade United beat St Ives Town 4-1 in meeting of second and third, Fakenham Town edged Wootton Blue Cross 3-2.

1 South – Barking hit Grays Athletic 6-1 to take the title ahead of Hutton, who won 2-0 at Wodson Park. AFC Sudbury Reserves’ Lily Tilyard got three of their seven goals at Cheshunt.

League Cup – Stevenage reached the final with a narrow 3-2 result at Needham Market, thanks to substitute Rosy Wodhams’ 72nd-minute decider.

EAST MIDLANDS – Lincoln United seal second spot

Premier – Both Tracey Duxbury-Mead and Lauren Churcher netted twice as Lincoln United won 4-0 at Rotherham United to seal runners up spot.

1 Central – Dronfield Town went level on points with leaders Ilkeston Town with one game left each, Kristine Humble getting a last-minute goal for to complete a 2-1 comeback at Notts County Devs. Asfordby Amateurs also won 2-1 at Sherwood.

1 North – Gainsborough Trinity won 3-1 at Grimsby Borough aided by Emily Murphy’s quickfire brace, staying second ahead of Sleaford Town, 6-2 winners at SJR Worksop.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Ebbsfleet see off Millwall 

Premier – A crowd of 228 saw leaders Ebbsfleet United effectively end Millwall Lionesses’ title hopes with a 6-1 defeat, while Worthing remained within reach after a two-goal win at Fulham. Enfield Town edged Sutton United 2-1, Saltdean United drew 1-1 with Dartford, while AFC Acorns had a good 2-0 result over Dulwich Hamlet to move further away from danger.

1 North – Brentford hit Sport London E Benfica 6-1 with Chloe Logie scoring four to take the leadership from  Clapton, defeated 5-2 at title-rivals Dorking Wanderers for whom Gemma Shepherd got a treble. Hackney netted five at Dulwich Hamlet Reserves, Denham United had a 3-2 win and 0-0 draw in a double-header with Watford Development DH, Richmond Park v Whyteleafe was also goalless.

1 South – Hastings United’s Charlotte Gurr and Sian Heather contributed hat-tricks to their 11 goals at Cray Valley, keeping them top ahead of Ashford United who beat Herne Bay 4-0. Welling United won by the same score at Newhaven, Eastbourne United defeated Steyning Town 4-1 as Shantelle Omar scored three, Bexhill United edged Maidstone United 3-2.

NORTH EAST – Barnsley FC Ladies extend lead

Premier – Alnwick Town downed second-placed Wakefield with Catherine Johnston three times on target, South Shields put five past Harrogate Town to also up their chances of the runners-up spot. Champions Chester le Street Town defeated Hull United 4-2, Sunderland West End beat Blyth Town 3-1.

1 North – Leaders Spennymoor Town won 5-1 at Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves, title-rivals Wallsend BC Reserves took the points 3-2 at Hartlepool Pools Youth with Hannah Gosnold’s stoppage-time decider. Hartlepool United were held 2-2 by West Allotment Celtic, Chester le Street United pipped Gateshead 4-3 with Kirsty Gillis’s winner, Guisborough Town gained just their second point drawing 1-1 at Thornaby.

1 South – Barnsley FC Ladies moved 11 points clear with six goals at York RI, Millmoor hit hosts Handsworth 6-1 to leapfrog them into second. Ossett United left Bradford Park Avenue 5-1 winners, Altofts beat Farsley Celtic Juniors by the same score, it was 2-2 between Harworth Colliery and Sheffield United Foundation, Ripon City had a walkover against Sheffield Wednesday.

NORTH WEST – Blackpool and Preston chasing down Haslingden 

Premier – Fleetwood Town Wrens held leaders FC United of Manchester 0-0, West Didsbury & Chorlton won 3-2 at Darwen helped by Taylor Gunn’s double. Blackburn CSC and Tranmere Rovers tied 2-2, Cheadle Town Stingers hit  Mossley Hill Athletic for six.

1 North – Blackpool are two points from overtaking leaders Haslingden after winning 2-0 at Workington Reds, Preston North End are also chasing top spot and defeated Carlisle United 4-1. Penwortham Town picked up a crucial point 0-0 at Penrith, Bolton Wanderers sank Sir Tom Finney 8-1.

1 South – There was a hat-trick for Sophie Charlton as champions Bury AFC put eleven past BRNESC, Runcorn Linnets edged a nine-goal thriller with Poulton Vics. Chester won 7-0 at Altrincham with three from Molly Wood, Warrington Wolves won 2-0 at Wythenshawe Amateurs.

SOUTHERN – Winning finish for Kidlington

1 North – Kidlington’s 3-0 win over Eversley & California lifted them above their visitors and into fifth place.

SOUTH WEST – Torquay one win from title

Premier – Torquay United’s 1-1 draw at Liskeard Athletic leaves them needing to win their final game to take the league ahead of Bristol Rovers. Forest Green Rovers finished with a 4-0 win over Warminster Town, Poole Town tied 2-2 with Bishops Lydeard, Royal Wootton Bassett Town’s first win came 5-0 against Ilminster Town with a Madeline Elliott hat-trick.

1 East – Pucklechurch Sports ended their campaign with only two points dropped after defeating Weymouth 3-0.

1 North – SGS Olveston United’s Rosanna Blacker got two in a 3-2 result at Downend Flyers to put them level on points with leaders Frampton Rangers, who seem certain to become champions.

1 West – Feniton can still be runners-up after defeating title- winners Marine Academy Plymouth.

Divisional Cup – Frome Town made the semi-finals with a 3-1 win at Weston super Mare, Frampton Rangers with a walkover against Saltash United.

WEST MIDLANDS – Sutton Coldfield have one hand on the trophy

Premier – Sutton Coldfield Town only need two points from as many games to finish top, after winning the title ‘six-pointer’ 2-0 at home to Kidderminster Harriers in front of a crowd of 280. Solihull Sporting edged Lye Town 3-2 with Lauren Smith twice on target, Worcester City were 3-0 winners over Lichfield City, Shrewsbury Town put eight past Crusaders with Libby Veitch getting three of them.

1 North – Shifnal Town are a step closer to the title having won 7-0 at Wyrley, AFC Telford got all three goals at Tamworth to keep their hopes alive. City of Stoke won 3-2 at Port Vale, Lichfield City Reserves defeated Coventry City with the same scoreline with Karen Clough bagging a brace.

1 South – Chloe Barker-Duthie truck three times in the first 27 minutes to set up a 5-1 victory for Kingfisher at Leamington Lions.

Division 1 Cup Coventry Sphinx reached the final with a 6-3 result at Walsall Wood, Knowle joined them when eliminating Walsall FC 3-0.
