Regional League Round-Up : Ossett United first title winners

Ossett United got an early Christmas present by clinching the North East League Division 1 South title with a 5-0 victory over second-placed Barnsley Development.

EASTERN – Cambridge City win at leaders

PREMIER – Cambridge City’s eighth straight win came 2-1 at leaders Acle United despite substitute Sarah Mosley being sent off. Peterborough Northern Star are second after a 6-1 sinking of AFC Sudbury in which Emma Pollard hit a hat-trick. Wymondham Town’s Laura Nicholls bagged a brace in the 3-2 win at Harlow Town, Bedford beat AFC Dunstable 5-0 away.

ONE – Bowers & Pitsea went top with a 3-2 victory at Lawford whose Daisy Canny was off after a second caution. Stevenage Reserves lost the leadership when held 2-2 at home by Newmarket Town, for whom Brooke Wickens scored both goals. St Ives Town went third with a 3-0 defeat of Histon as  Katie Stancombe struck twice. King’s Lynn Town put five past Hertford Town with a couple for Tiffany Forshaw.

EAST MIDLANDS – Posh end unbeaten Oughtibridge run

PREMIER – Second-placed Oughtibridge suffered a first loss 3-1 at home to Peterborough United, Eastwood had Precious Hamilton dismissed on 55 minutes during a 5-1 defeat at Kettering Town, Ollerton Town netted two very late goals in a 2-0 win at Mansfield Town and Rise Park shared four goals with Woodlands.

1 NORTH – Ilkeston Town beat Hykeham Town 2-0, Arnold Town put their first points on the board when winning 3-2 at Calverton Miners Welfare and Retford United are back in the black following a 2-1 victory over Sleaford Town in which Georgia Lewis scored twice.

1 SOUTH – Northampton Town’s 4-0 result at Loughborough Foxes Vixens was their seventh win in a row, Notts County’s 5-1 success at Lutterworth Athletic featured a second-half Bella Reed treble.

PREMIER – Kent Football United made it seven wins on the spin with a 9-1 thrashing of Fulham and a double hat-trick for Rachel Stevens. Whyteleafe stayed second with all four goals in the game with Aylesford, while Parkwood Rangers picked up their first points with a 2-0 defeat of third-placed Eastbourne Town.

GREATER LONDON PREMIER – Ashford Town (Middlesex) went 9 points clear as Ashley Cheatley scored three times in a 4-1 scoreline at Colne Valley. Spurs Development came from behind to take the points 2-1 at Regents Park Rangers with a Renea Jarrett double. Luton Town Development pulled off a 2-1 victory over Victoire in the John Greenacre Memorial Trophy 2nd Round, despite being bottom of the division below.

SOUTH EAST COUNTIES PREMIER – Phoenix Sports’ Lia Skingley got three of their eight goals at Meridian. In the League Cup 2nd Round, Ashford LFC eliminated leaders Crawley Wasps Reserves 5-3 and Herne Bay defeated higher division Newhaven 3-0 with the aid of a Lauren Harris brace.

NORTH EAST – Ossett clinch title

PREMIER – While Durham Cestria won for the eleventh time in a row 2-0 at Harrogate Town, Hartlepool United rise to second with 11 goals against Castleford White Rose as substitute Lucy Hammond-Garrington got three. Ryton & Crawcrook Albion Tynedale went above South Shields into third by beating them by the odd goal in three and Rotherham United got off the bottom as Lucy Ridley got the sole goal against Wallsend BC.

1 NORTH – Consett are second on goal-difference having beaten Boro Rangers 4-2 with Amy Wharton scoring twice, while Sunderland West End slipped to defeat at Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves with a Victoria Burton goal.  Washington won 4-2 at Chester le Street Town St. Cuthberts as Bethany White came off the bench to help seal the victory. Alnwick Town’s Stephanie Stafford grabbed a hat-trick in a 5-0 result at Cramlington United.

1 SOUTH – Ossett United are champions after their 5-0 top of the table clash win over Barnsley Development put them out of reach. Altofts are level on points with the latter having sent Sheffield Wednesday to a 3-1 defeat.

NORTH WEST – Blackpool extend lead

PREMIER – Merseyrail gained a second win of the season with a 3-0 defeat of fifth-placed Wigan Athletic.

1 NORTH – Blackpool’s 4-0 beating of Burscough Dynamo put them 6 points ahead of second-placed Blackburn CSC, who were held 2-2 by visiting Bury, while Workington Reds leapfrogged Leigh RMI with a 5-2 win over them.

1 SOUTH – Chester’s game with City of Liverpool was abandoned.

SOUTHERN – Cherries on top

PREMIER – AFC Bournemouth replaced Southampton FC Ladies as leaders with their 2-0 win at Newbury and Oxford City are second having defeated Ascot United 4-2 with Lauren May on target twice.

ONE – Moneyfields are clear at the top thanks to their 2-0 win at Shanklin, Wycombe Wanderers moved second on goal-difference when netting 10 goals at Basingstoke Town with a Tara Ashley Woodward hat-trick. Eastleigh’s Samantha Hide got two in the 3-1 win at Alton and Wargrave won 6-1 over Wokingham & Emmbrook with two for Hannah Holt.

LEAGUE CUP 1ST RD – New Milton Town knocked out Barton Rovers by three goals to two.

SOUTH WEST – Wootton switch places with Frampton 

PREMIER – Keynsham Town Development opened up a five-point lead as a powerful first-half showing had them 7-1 up over Torquay United. Liberty Sims had a four-goal haul and Rhianna Ben-Carew got three in an eventual 8-2 scoreline.

1 EASTERN – Wootton Bassett Town replaced Frampton Rangers at the top by sending them to their first defeat, two goals to one. Cheltenham Town Development’s 2-0 defeat of Almondsbury put them second on goal-difference, while Swindon Town Development jumped three places to sixth after overcoming Oldland Abbotonians 3-0.

1 WESTERN – Bideford came from a goal down at half-time to beat Bude Town 3-1 and close the gap on leaders Plymouth Argyle Reserves to 4 points with a game still in hand. Feniton’s 5-0 win at Weston Super Mare 0-5 included braces by Brittany Harris and Cindy Johnson.

WEST MIDLANDS – Sutton increase advantage

PREMIER – Sutton Coldfield Town have a three-point advantage after edging Knowle 2-1, as Coundon Court went down 4-2 at home to Crusaders. while Redditch United were 1-0 winners over Lye Town.

1 NORTH – Shifnal Town’s seven goals at Wyrley edged them into second position, as Stoke City Development lost 2-1 at Shrewsbury Town.

1 SOUTH – Leaders Sedgley & Gornal United had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Kingfisher and Solihull United gained crowned by downing Leamington 7-3. Kidderminster Harriers just got the better of Stourbridge 3-2, while Coventry City held Droitwich Spa 2-2.
