Regional League Round-up for Sunday 2 December
EASTERN – Newmarket’s super subs score seven
PREMIER – Acle United opened up a six-point gap at the top but were limited to a Grace Parker goal in a 1-0 scoreline by lowly Haringey Borough. Royston Town are second on goal-difference after a 3-0 defeat of Colney Heath, while Bedford went one better against AFC Sudbury.
ONE – Hutton went second with a 3-0 win at Hoddesdon Town Owls as Bowers & Pitsea and St Ives Town finished goalless. Lawford hit hosts Bishops Stortford 6-2 with three for Tess Ryan and Newmarket Town netted ten against Hatfield Peverel including a hat-trick from Annabel Cuthbert as the subs contributed seven goals.
EAST MIDLANDS – Boston win top of the table clash
PREMIER – Leicester City WFC Development’s 6-1 sinking of Rise Park was their eighth victory in a row, third drew with second as Loughborough Students ended 1-1 with Oughtibridge WMSC and Woodlands won a seven-goal thriller at Mansfield Town where Jody Scott scored four first-half goals.
1 NORTH – Boston beat Lincoln Moorlands-Railway 4-0 to replace them as leaders, Tracey Duxbury-Mead on target twice for United. Retford United got off the mark with a 2-2 tie at home to Ilkeston Town.
1 SOUTH – Notts County and Corby Town shared four goals, Oadby & Wigston’s fixture with Loughborough Foxes Vixens was abandoned.
LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Burgess Hill and Margate make Cup quarter-finals
LEAGUE CUP – Kent Football United beat Group A leaders London Kent Football United 2-0, Aylesford had a similar scoreline at Parkwood Rangers. QPR Girls Development are level on points with Group B’s top side AFC Phoenix whom they defeated 3-0, while Fulham won by the same score at Whyteleafe.
GREATER LONDON PREMIER – Ashford Town (Middlesex) lead by 6 points following a 4-1 result at New London Lionesses, with Lavana Neufville bagging a brace.
SOUTH EAST COUNTIES – The bottom two in the Premier both went out of the League Cup to lower division opposition, as Burgess Hill Town beat Meridian 4-3 after extra-time with a Leonie Diatta hat-trick and Margate got the only goal through Harriet Woolston against Bexhill United, while Phoenix Sports eliminated Eastbourne Ladies 4-1 with Emma Squirrell scoring twice.
NORTH EAST – South Shields go second
PREMIER – South Shields jumped four places with a 5-0 defeat of Rotherham United as Dannika Purdham scored twice.
LEAGUE CUP 2ND RD – Altofts and Consett both knocked out more senior sides, the former 3-0 winners over Castleford White Rose, the latter edging RACA Tynedale on penalties to reach the quarter-finals. Caitlin Bates scored the only goal as Hartlepool United accounted for Wallsend BC, Boro Rangers beat Division 1 North leaders Redcar Town 2-1 with an Abbie Phillips winner, Ossett United’s 3-1 success at Barnsley Development saw Debbie Hastings claim a treble. York City hit Wakefield for six and Durham Cestria demolished Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves 11-0.
1 NORTH – Sunderland West End won 5-3 over Cramlington United to move up into second position, Kristen Whitfield coming off the bench to net two goals against battling opponents who have now lost all 11 games.
NORTH WEST – All the sevens for West Didsbury
PREMIER – FC United of Manchester are on the heels of third-placed Mossley Hill having thrashed them 5-0. Fleetwood Town Wrens just got the better of Accrington 2-1, Sir Tom Finney’s first win came 3-2 at Penrith, but Merseyrail’s match with leaders Tranmere Rovers was abandoned.
1 NORTH – Blackburn SCS managed just a 2-1 scoreline at basement side Burscough Dynamo and Carlisle United are now behind them in third following a 4-0 defeat of Morecambe Reserves.
1 SOUTH – Only goal-difference separates the top three and West Didsbury & Chorlton are now in pole position having defeated local rivals Didsbury 7-2 with seven different scorers for a seventh win. Altrincham’s 6-0 score at City of Liverpool has them second, Liverpool Feds Reserves are third after sending former leaders Warrington Wolverines to a 4-2 loss.

SOUTHERN – Bournemouth battle back to go second
PREMIER – Here too the top three are equally close, each having won all their four games. AFC Bournemouth are in the middle of Southampton FC and Oxford City thanks to a remarkable 6-4 fightback at Woodley United after trailing 3-1.
ONE – Southampton WFC Development’s 5-1 result at Alton was set up by a Tia Hooper double in the opening 18 minutes, while Wokingham & Emmbrook’s Tina Leahy scored three in a 7-1 sinking of Shanklin.
SOUTH WEST – Metters on the mark as Plympton hold Argyle
PREMIER – Callington Town put six past Torquay United with two apiece for Gemma Farley and Jodie Smith, Portishead scored the only goal of the game at Downend Flyers.
1 EASTERN – Cheltenham Town Development leapfrogged AEK Boco into third by beating them 5-1.
1 WESTERN – Bideford scored three first-half goals against Feniton to go second, Plympton slipped to third despite holding leaders Plymouth Argyle Reserves to a 3-3 draw away from home, as Samantha Metters scored all their goals.
WEST MIDLANDS – Coundon catch Coldfield
PREMIER – Coundon Court are level on points with leaders Sutton Coldfield Town after coming from behind to win 3-1 win at Coventry Sphinx, where Cerys Miller put them in front and then turned provider for Daisy Bloor to score. Stockingford AA Pavilion picked up a 5-1 win at lowly Knowle.
1 NORTH – Despite Shifnal Town winning 5-0 over Shrewsbury Town they still dropped to fourth because of AFC Telford United’s seven goals at Florence.
1 SOUTH – Top team Sedgley & Gornal United had a narrow 1-0 win over Stourbridge but Solihull United kept up the pressure with by sending Kidderminster Harriers to a first defeat, Cat Harris with a double in the 4-2 away result. Droitwich Spa downed Coventry City 3-1 and Kingfisher put four past hosts Solihull Sporting.
