Regional League Round-Up

Results on Sunday 8th October saw Ascot United, Harrogate Town, Stockingford AA Pavilion and Writtle all go top of their respective Regional Premier Divisions.

EASTERN

PREMIER – Writtle went top with a 4-2 victory at Colney Heath, where Leanne Stubbings bagged a brace to help her side overtake Billericay Town.

1 NORTH – King’s Lynn Town are the new leaders following a 2-1 win at Cambridge United Reserves. Histon and Ipswich Wanderers finished 1-1, Alison Wright scoring for the hosts, Michelle Allum for the visitors. Ipswich Town Development defeated Silver End United 3-0 in the basement battle.

1 SOUTH – Stevenage Reserves are top by nine points after a fifth straight win, 3-0 over Hertford Town. Hutton finally got their league season underway with the only goal at Bishops Stortford through Kate Lowen. The hosts had Brooke White sent off and two players carried off.

EAST MIDLANDS

PREMIER – Five wins in a row now for Leicester City WD, Gabriella Reid with all three goals against Ollerton Town.  Oughtibridge went second with a similar scoreline at Arnold Town, where all the goals came in a thirteen-minute spell. Kettering Town got off the mark by beating Mansfield Hosiery Mills 2-0, Mansfield Town put four past Rise Park, with a couple from Androulle Kokkinou.

1 NORTH – Sleaford Town went level on points with leaders Woodlands after a 3-2 victory at Teversal. Calverton stay unbeaten but were held by Market Warsop, who picked up their second point in a 1-1 result. Lincoln Moorlands Railway just remained undefeated at Hykeham Town, where Sarah Flynn rescued a point from a 2-2 draw in the 88th minute. Grimsby Borough sent Clifton to a fifth loss in a row, Sue Green netting a hat-trick in the 8-1 scoreline.

1 SOUTH – Northampton Town demolished ten-player Desford 13-0 to stay top, Emma Dunmore dominating with seven goals, Leah Stacey contributing four. Second-placed Oadby & Wigston Dynamo sent AFC Leicester home beaten 4-0. Corby Town kept third spot with the 8-2 defeat of Cosby United, in which Nicole Andrejczuk netted four times. Peterborough United pushed into fourth with a 3-2 win at Thrapston Town, where Jeorgia Carr won in it the 79th minute, despite Imogen James being sent-off 3 minutes later.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST

AFC Phoenix and Crawley Wasps took the chance to move three points clear of the rest. Phoenix were 4-1 winners at Aylesford with three second-half goals, while the Wasps whipped Fulham 9-2 with four from Kemina Webber and three by Faye Robson.

NORTH EAST

PREMIER – Wallsend are one of four teams at the top on six points after their 6-1 success at Castleford White Rose, where Sam Deverdics scored four times.

1 NORTH – Boro Rangers beat Guisborough 12-0 to hold the leadership, Larissa Burkinshaw scoring five goals. Second-placed York Railway Institute won 4-2 with a brace by Tehillah Ndhlovu, despite two early goals from Consett. Prudhoe Town’s Catherine Johnston hit a hat-trick in vain, as Boldon CA Villa went away 4-3 winners, their own Elizabeth Thompson-Clarke also netting a treble. Cramlington United’s Georgia Lyall scored a minute from the end in a 2-2 tie with Blyth Lions.

1 SOUTH – Harrogate Town took over at the top, as seven different scorers saw Doncaster Belles sunk 7-0. Harrogate Railway also took maximum points with a 2-0 defeat of Swallownest Beighton. Ossett and Sheffield Wednesday had an amazing 6-6 draw, Nicola Swift got two for Albion, Stacey Buxton and Brooke Marsden a couple each for the Owls.

NORTH WEST

PREMIER – Merseyrail Bootle moved three points clear at the top with a fourth straight win, 4-0 at Blackburn CSC.  Accrington Ladies got off the mark with a 1-1 draw at Tranmere Rovers.

1 NORTH – Penrith have four wins on the spin following a 2-0 victory at Bolton Wanderers Reserves. Cammell Laird are third after defeating Kendal Town 5-1. Morecambe Reserves closed in on Leigh RMI after beating them 4-1. Workington Reds were held 2-2 as Preston North End picked up a second point.

1 SOUTH – Crewe Alexandra Development held leaders Liverpool Feds Reserves 2-2 and FC United gained ground when thrashing Northwich Vixens 13-0, including a Fran Sullivan double hat-trick. Curzon Ashton’s 7-2 success over Altrincham lifted them into third, while Stockport County Blues sent City of Liverpool to a sixth defeat with a 7-1 scoreline.

SOUTHERN

PREMIER – Newbury lost the leadership as two goals in the last nine minutes saw Oxford City beat them 4-0. Ascot United took over pole position with a similar score at Shanklin, Mia McCreesh scoring twice.

1 NORTH – Leaders Barton were held 1-1 by Wargrave, Rovers’ Gemma Sims canceling out an effort from Wendy Hooper. Wycombe Wanderers gained their first point when drawing 1-1 with Wokingham & Emmbrook but it could have been all three but for Tara Ashley Woodward’s opener being equalised on 80 minutes by Joanne Atkins.

1 SOUTH – AFC Bournemouth are still top on goal-difference after a 9-0 win at Fleett Town, with four from Chloe Tape. Southampton WFC Reserves stay second by edging Eastleigh 4-3, Karleen Hellard on target twice after Samantha Hide scored twice in the first 16 minutes for the visitors. Warsash Wasps made it back to back wins with a 3-1 result over Alton.

SOUTH WEST

PREMIER – The meeting of last season’s top two saw Yeovil Town Intermediate beaten 3-1 at home by Marine Academy Plymouth, for whom Rebekah Rose got a couple to send them top. Charlestown struck five first-half goals  on the way to sinking morning leaders Middlezoy 6-0, Amber Hadrill scoring twice. Exeter City got their campaign underway with a 6-1 success at Ilminster Town, where Kate Finch came off the bench to net three. AEK Boco won the bottom of the table match at Downend Fleyrs 4-2, Ellie Keedwell contributing a double.

EASTERN – Portishead lead with a 3-2 victory against Cheltenham Town Development, Shannon Holloway scoring twice. Wootton Bassett Town also made it four wins by beating previous leaders Almondsbury 4-2, Laura Gammon on target twice. Cheltenham Civil Service’s first points came with a 5-1 result over Oldland Abbotonians, against whom Beth Tovey claimed a treble. Elsewhere, Swindon Town Development turned over Team Mendip 3-0.

WESTERN – Alphington’s Laura Burwood got the only goal at Exeter & Tedburn Rangers to keep them in first place. Plymouth Argyle Reserves won a fourth time in a row, five different scorers on target against Newquay Celtic. Callington went one better with six players on target at Bideford, including subs Siobhan Ellyatt and Dani Harper.

WEST MIDLANDS

PREMIER – Stockingford AA Pavilion’s 5-0 win at Worcester United saw them take over at the top, as Crusaders and Leafield Athletic tied 4-4, Rachel Jane with two for the former, Kate Hearnden-Fellows matching that for the visitors. Coundon Court were 5-1 winners over Leamington and Kingshurst Sporting Club hit Knowle for six.

1 NORTH – Sutton Coldfield Town stay first with a 5-1 result at Atherstone Rangers. Wyrley are second with a 3-1 win at Florence, while Goldenhill Wanderers and Leek Town both kept up perfect form, edging Bilbrook 4-3 and defeating Tamworth 3-1 respectively.

1 SOUTH – Solihull United made it five wins on the spin but only by the odd goal in seven at net to bottom Rugby Town. Second-placed Gornal came through 3-1 at Kidderminster Harriers, Droitwich Spa put a dozen past Coventry Development with six for Katie Armento and three by Charlote Criddle, while Stourbridge sunk Solihull Sporting 4-1.
