Regional League Round-Up (17 Sept)

Derby wins for Ipswich Wanderers and Mansfield Hosiery Mills, hefty scores from AFC Phoenix, Durham Cestria and Southampton WFC Reserves, plus a first ever victory at this level for Hykeham Town.

EASTERN

PREMIER – Lowestoft Town only had ten players for their visit to lowly Colchester Town but still won 3-2 with a Hannah Waters hat-trick to go fifth.

1 NORTH – The Ipswich derby saw Wanderers win 3-1 at Town Development 3-1, Jess and Michelle Taylor-Allum on the score-sheet along with Melissa Stickland. Histon went top with a third straight win, Alison Wright and Sophie Hopkin scoring for a 2-1 result at Silver End United.

1 SOUTH – Hoddesdon Town Owls won the basement battle at Hertford Town 2-1, Charley Handley and Kristina O’Connell their scorers.

EAST MIDLANDS

PREMIER – Arnold Town claimed their first points thanks to a Jodie Ellis goal after 1 minutes against Ollerton Town. Mansfield Hosiery Mills left it late in beating Mansfield Town 2-0, Bethany Wilcockson scoring both in the last 8 minutes to get them off the mark and leave the Stags bottom.

1 NORTH – Calverton made it two wins from two with a 3-0 result at Arnold Town Development, where Demi-Leigh Crofts bagged a brace. Amy Wainwright struck four first-half goals as Teversal started in style with a 6-2 scoreline at Clifton. Draycott Victoria went down 2-1 at home to Grimsby Borough, for whom Natalie Aird and Scarlet Woods found the net. Hykeham Town’s first ever win at this level happened after Kirsty Dalsell got two in 3 minutes in the 3-0 defeat of Market Warsop. Woodlands beat Sleaford Town 4-2 to edge above them into second spot, Emily Foss netting a treble.

1 SOUTH – Northampton Town’s Emma Dunmore netted four of their nine goals at Heather as they recorded a third win in a row to stay top. Corby Town are second after a 7-1 success at Desford, where Nicole Coull got three. Oadby & Wigston Dynamo got their first win at AFC Leicester, Cosby United’s 4-2 result over Corby S&L had Ella Needham and Analice Wilkes share the spoils and there was a hat-trick for Hannah Pendred in Thrapston Town’s 6-2 victory at Loughborough Foxes Vixens.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST

Crawley Wasps went top with a 7-2 win at Fulham Foundation, Lauren Callaghan getting a couple as the hosts suffered a fourth defeat on the spin. Clapham-based AFC Phoenix are third after running in a dozen goals at Watford Development.

NORTH EAST

PREMIER – The opening top flight fixture brought twelve goals and all for Durham Cestria, Sophie Hodgson netting three and Molly Holder four in the drubbing of Castleford White Rose.

1 NORTH – Consett are the initial leaders after a 4-2 scoreline against Blyth Lions, while Boldon CA Villa were held 1-1 by Boro Rangers, Kim Robinson coming off the bench to equalise for the visitors.

1 SOUTH – Harrogate Town began with a 7-2 success at Ossett Albion, with a treble from sub Caroline Hulme. Malet Lambert edged Swallownest Beighton 4-3 away, with a couple each from Demi Thomas and Amy Thompson.

NORTH WEST

1 NORTH – Preston North End picked up a first point when holding leaders Leigh RMI 2-2 away from home. Cammell Laird won by the best of five goals at Burscough Dynamo.

1 SOUTH – Liverpool Feds Reserves are second after a 4-1 win over Stockport County Blues. Warrington Wolverines went one better at home to Northwich Vixens with the aid of three by Sam Hassall and Crewe Alexandra Development defeated hosts City of Liverpool 2-1.

SOUTHERN

PREMIER – Milton Keynes City twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Newbury and go top. Laura Geyton and Natalie Keefe scored in reply to efforts from Amie Barnard and Ellie Reed.

1 NORTH – Barton Rovers made it back to back wins with Rachel Allwright on target twice in a 3-2 win over Wokingham & Emmbrook. Woodley United leapfrogged Wargrave into second position when beating them 2-0, Mollie Haines and Rosie Page-Smith both scoring in the first quarter of a hour.

1 SOUTH – Southampton WFC Reserves ascended to the summit in powerful fashion, Tia Bramble a thorn in the side of Fleet Town with a double hat-trick in the 13-0 thrashing.

SOUTH WEST

PREMIER – Middlezoy Rovers’ Anusia Rourke got both their goals in the 2-1 defeat of Yeovil Town Intermediate that kept them top. Charlestown started with a 2-1 victory at home to AEK Boco.

EASTERN – Portishead lead after a 5-2 result at Oldland Abbotonians, including a couple for Hannah Thornton. Wootton Bassett Town are level on points with the leaders having hit Swindon Spitfires 9-3, with three each for Robyn Levett and Beth Westlake. Almondsbury are a third team on 6 points having beaten Frome Town 3-0. Swindon Town Development hit Cheltenham Civil Service for six and Team Mendip’s 3-1 score against St Nicholas Reserves brought two goals and a red card for Natasha Hale.

WESTERN – Alphington extended their fine start with a third win and three goals at Bideford, where they kept a third clean sheet. Bude Town’s Katherine Bryant bagged a brace in a 5-2 beating of Activate, while Exeter & Tedburn Rangers edged Plympton 2-1.

WEST MIDLANDS

PREMIER – Knowle’s Tyler Chloe Davison got two in a 2-2 tie which saw Stockingford AA Pavilion drop points for the first time. Kingshurst Sporting Club’s 5-3 win against Coundon Court featured three goals from Perrie Craythorne, while Wolverhampton Sporting ran out 8-1 winners at Leamington.

1 NORTH – Wyrley lead with a 3-0 win at Tamworth, Shrewsbury Juniors hit Atherstone Rangers for six, while Sutton Coldfield Town kicked off with a 5-1 defeat of Florence, Tiara Hemans and Cheyanne Jarvis netting two apeice.

1 SOUTH – Three wins in the bag already for table-topping Droitwich Spa with their 3-1 result over Rugby Town. Solihull United have won both their games now, Hayley Wilford getting two in a 3-1 defeat of Kidderminster Harriers. Solihull Sporting’s 6-1 success at home to Coventry Development included a couple each for Kerry Woodall and Michelle Anderson.
