Aston Villa’s Rachel Daly has been announced as the Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Season for 2022-23.
After signing for Villa last summer, the striker has been a revelation for Carla Ward’s side as they secured a fifth-place finish in the league.
Daly’s return to English football has gone as well as could be expected. The defender-turned-forward scored 20 goals in 20 games in the BWSL, while also providing six assists. Daly opened her account with two goals and an assist in a 4-3 win over Manchester City as Villa showed everyone what they were made of on the opening weekend.
Daly has scored two hat-tricks this season, both against Reading, notching braces in four other games as she twice picked up Barclays Player of the Month awards in September and November.
