Pre-season friendlies saw Arsenal Women win derby, Liverpool hold Man Utd

Sunday’s pre-season games featured a 4-0 north London derby win for Arsenal Women and Liverpool holding Manchester United.

AFC Fylde defeated Everton U-23s 3-1, Faye McCoy with a double and Jenna Carroll with the third.

Alton and visitors Badshot Lea finished all square at 3-3 at full-time but keen for extra minutes a further half-hour was played, in which the away side scored twice.

Darlington came from 2-0 down at the break to record a 4-2 victory away at Bishop Auckland.

The inaugural Julie Chipchase Memorial Match saw the former Belles and Leeds player honoured with a minute’s applause, while supporters and ex-teammates wore shirts bearing her name and kits from her playing days.

Lewes 2-0 Portsmouth

Liverpool held hosts Manchester United 2-2, Leanne Kiernan’s opener bringing replies from Leah Galton and Kirsty Hanson, before Carla Humphrey equalised for the visitors in the second half.

Lucy Watson led the way with three goals as Sheffield United ran out 7-0 winners at Middlesbrough.

Milton Keynes Dons edged West Bromwich Albion 5-4, fighting back from 4-2 down with a second-half hat trick from Mollie Coupar.

Nottingham Forest’s Charlotte Greengrass grabbed a late leveller to hold Watford to a 1-1 draw.

Oxford City 1-6 AFC Wimbledon

Oxford United sent Arsenal U-21s to a 3-2 defeat, with Beth Lumsden getting all three goals for the hosts.
