Portsmouth and Watford into FA Women’s National League Cup Q-Fs

Portsmouth and Watford won through to The FA Women’s National League Cup quarter-finals, St.Austell recorded their first ever FAWNL points.

Southern Premier Division

Ipswich Town went level on points with Watford and Portsmouth in second and third respectively. Maria Boswell’s early corner flew straight in and Anna Grey

Division 1 North

Newcastle United 9-0 Merseyrail (Att: 336)
Stockport County 3-0 York City (Att: 87)

Durham Cestria stayed top, substitute Leanna Giles sealing the win late on after Sarah Burns’ opener.

Newcastle United are up to second, Katie Barker hitting a hat-trick in their big win.

Stockport County moved up two places to fourth, Chloe Howard, Emily Bradshaw and Kenzie Bentley their scorers.

St Austell recorded their first ever win at this level, Isabel Scott bagging a brace and Kayleigh Brown their other goal.

FA WNL Cup 2nd Round

Hashtag United 3-5 (aet) Watford

Portsmouth 1-0 Oxford United (Att: 241)

Watford set up a home quarter-final with MK Dons after eventually seeing off Hashtag United in extra time. The Saturday evening tie was reversed due to the weather and played behind closed doors at Watford’s training ground, where United struck first but the Hornets hit back with two goals in as many minutes. Despite extending their lead to 3-1, Hashtag got back on level terms, before goals for Grace Garrad and Jo Wilson sent Watford through.

Jazmin Younger git the only goal as Portsmouth eliminated Oxford United, to set up a quarter-final at Plymouth Argyle or Cardiff City LFC.
