A crowd of 5,164 saw Republic of Ireland and Slovakia draw 1-1 at Tallaght Stadium in the FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Lousie Quinn and Lucy Quinn both went close for Ireland in a goalless first-half, while Courtney Brosnan was called upon to make a sharp save at her near post.

But just two minutes after the restart, Martina Surnovska capitalised on a wonderful ball into the box to fire the visitors in front.

The hosts levelled on 65 minute, Denise O’Sullivan playing in Katie McCabe to shoot across the keeper and into the bottom corner.

Louise Quinn cleared off the line 10 minutes later to help her side hold onto a draw.

Vera Pauw’s side next face Georgia on 30 Tuesday November.
