Aston Villa took a point from their Saturday morning trip to Manchester City in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

City took the lead before the opening half-hour was up, Deyna Castellanos slotting the ball past Anna Leat from Khadija Shaw’s pass.

Villa took just a couple of minutes to equalise, a Kirsty Hanson shot looped in after her initial effort was blocked.

Hanson hit the post soon after the interval, Shaw heading over at the other end from four yards out.

Roebuck pushed away Kenza Dali’s powerful half-volley, Leat made a late block to deny Shaw as City dropped two point in their bid for a top-three finish.

Villa themselves move up two places to fifth with a very creditable point.
