Lionesses’ Karen Bardsley Suffers Broken Leg

England goalkeeper Karen Bardsley will miss the rest of the UEFA Women’s Euros through injury.

Bardsley was substituted in the second half of the Lionesses’ 1-0 quarter final win over France on Sunday [30 July], having suffered a fibula fracture in a collision with Steph Houghton.

“It was a hell of a bump. Steph gave her a whack by mistake,” England Head Coach Mark Sampson told BBC Sport.

Bardsley will remain with the team in the Netherlands as they prepare to face the host nation in the semi-final in Enschede on Thursday 3 August (7.45pm BST KO).

Siobhan Chamberlain, who came on for the injured Bardsley, will again be between the sticks for the clash with the Netherlands.

  1. THe French manager was waving his arms in frustration, thinking it was a ploy to upset the rhythm of the game, I suspect.
