Hertford Town and FC St Helens halt long-winning Regional League runs

FC St Helens beat Wythenshawe to deny them a thirteenth straight Regional League win, Watford Ladies Development were held by Hertford Town to be similarly thwarted.

EASTERN – Hertford Town end Watford Ladies perfect form

Premier – Real Bedford made it 13 straight wins with a 3-1 result at Needham Market, Haringey Borough went second with a 2-1 defeat of Wroxham as Royston Town were held 1-1 by Barking.  Stevenage had a crowd of 150 for their 6-2 sinking of AFC Dunstable, in which Amy Makewell hit a 24-minute first-half treble.

1 North – Harpenden Town held the leadership with a 2-1 win at Newmarket Town, Dussindale & Hellesdon Rovers kept up the pressure when hitting Mulbarton Wanderers for six as Isabelle Moore notched a hat-trick. Wootton Blue Cross beat Fakenham Town 3-0 to go third, Histon got all four goals at Biggleswade United.

1 South – Hertford Town’s Charlie Mills bagged a brace in a 2-2 tie at Watford Ladies Development, who levelled late on but saw an end their 12-game winning spree. Cheshunt sent second-placed Southend United to a 2-1 defeat with Lauren Casey’s 82nd-minute decider. Lawford’s 5-0 win over Grays Athletic featured a 28-minute Georgia Box hat-trick, Stanway Pegasus put eight past Hutton with Alisha Weatherby getting three of them, while Billericay Town Devs won 3-1 at Wodson Park.

League Cup Q-F – Luton Town substitute Fiona Buttigieg scored twice as the Hatters reached the semi-finals with a 3-0 result at St Albans City.

EAST MIDLANDS – Boddington bangs in all five for Thrapston

Premier – Lincoln United’s 4-1 defeat of Mansfield Town made it nine wins in a row, Ilkeston Town beat Anstey Nomads 3-1 aided by a Jade Eaglefield double, Rotherham United ran out 8-0 winners at Long Eaton United and Basford United overcame a half-time deficit to see off Grimsby Town 2-1.

1 Central – Nottingham Trent University won 7-3 away to Notts County Devs to leapfrog them into second position, Beaumont Park won 2-1 at Sandiacre Town, Sherwood’s Katie Fish got the only goal against 1-0 West Bridgford and it ended one apiece between Loughborough Foxes Vixens and Asfordby Amateurs.

1 North – Gainsborough Trinity opened up a five-point lead at the top but had Shannon Carte sent off late on, during their 3-0 win at third-placed Dronfield Town. Grimsby Borough beat Retford by the same score, Oughtibridge WM defeated Lincoln United Devs 2-0 away and Sleaford Town returned from Skegness Town 3-2 victors.

1 South – Thrapston Town stayed top with a 5-1 result over second-placed Northampton Town Devs in which Millie Boddington got all their five goals but Emma Stevenson was dismissed. Kettering Town are now second, after edging Stamford 1-0 with a Mikaela Welford effort. New Bradwell St Peter also won by the only goal against Newport Pagnell Town scored by Cara Brooker, while four-goal Cardea remain without a point as hosts Nuneaton Borough netted six.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Dorking and Saltdean make semis on pens

1 North – Denham United moved up two places to sixth, following a 5-0 victory at Ashmount Leigh.

1 South – Bromley’s Bethany Hull bagged a brace as they won 3-0 at Herne Bay, thereby overtaking them and going third in the table. Eastbourne United substitute Annabel Worcester got a couple in a 4-0 win at Bognor Regis Town, Bexhill United beat Welling United 2-0.

League Cup Q-F – All four ties were tight affairs with two going to shoot-outs, as Saltdean United edged out Crawley AFC 4-3 on penalties after a goalless deadlock and Dorking Wanderers went through 4-2 from the spot at Enfield Town after being tied at 3-3. Dulwich Hamlet’s Summer Roberts scored the sole goal at Fulham, Dartford knocked out Millwall Lionesses by the odd goal in five.

League Trophy Q-F – Hackney beat Montpelier Villa 2-1 after extra-time with a Taleen Taylor goal, Newhaven were 3-1 winners at Dartford Reserves, Brentford put five past Steyning Town and Whyteleafe had a 4-1 result against Richmond Park.

NORTH EAST – Spennymoor defeat league leaders

Premier – Spennymoor Town are up to fourth following an impressive 4-0 scoreline against leaders Barnsley FC, Sunderland West End missed the chance to go top when held 2-2 at mid-table Alnwick Town, Wallsend BC could have gone level on points with the top two but were had to settle for 2-2 home draw with Bradford City. Wakefield AFC had a fine 4-2 result at South Shields, Harrogate Town got off the bottom with a 4-0 defeat of Redcar Town, Millie Sharp’s early goal was enough to give Hull United victory at Hartlepool United.

1 North – Sunderland U-23s have won ten out of ten games after a 5-0 defeat of Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves, second-placed Consett beat Bishop Auckland 3-1 with a couple by Stephanie Curry, Wallsend BC Reserves won 3-1 at Gateshead.

1 South – Millmoor’s Alesha Gale scored twice but the leaders were held 2-2 at home by York City Devs, Chesterfield FC Women gaining ground with a 5-0 result against Harworth Colliery. Scores elsewhere were; Handsworth 4-1 Sheffield United Foundation, Lower Hopton 1-2 Ossett United, Ripon City 1-6 Farsley Celtic JFC Ladies.

NORTH WEST – St Helens abruptly end Wythenshawe’s winning run

Premier – Leaders Cheadle Town Stingers put five past basement side Blackpool, second-placed Blackburn CSC beat Crewe Alexandra 1-0.  Salford City shared six goals with West Didsbury & Chorlton, Tranmere Rovers versus Bury finished goalless.

1 North – Mancunian Unity moved on to 14 wins on the spin with a 2-0 victory at Preston North End, Penrith stayed second on goal-difference with a 3-1 result over Radcliffe, ahead of Accrington Stanley whose Loulou Newton netted twice in the 4-2 success at Fleetwood Town Wrens Reserves. Haslingden won 1-0 at Bolton Wanderers, Carlisle United and Morecambe drew 1-1, while Workington Reds sank Penwortham Town 7-0.

1 South – It was unlucky 13 for Wythenshawe as after a dozen straight wins their run was ended abruptly by a 4-1 reverse at FC St. Helens, Chester are three points short of the leaders after defeating Northwich Vixens by as many goals. Mossley Hill Athletic’s Olivia Ellinson claimed a hat-trick as they edged a seven-goal thriller at Hindley, Warrington were 3-1 winners at Altrincham and Ellesmere Port Town took the points 4-2 at Litherland REMYCA.

SOUTHERN – Ascot back on top after Wycombe down leaders

Premier – Bournemouth Sports lost top spot after a 2-1 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers, whose winner was scored by sub Jessica Poulter. Ascot United regained the leadership by beating Eastleigh 2-1, Philippa Holden with the 81st-minute decider. Woodley United won 4-0 at Badshot Lea to go third in the table.

1 North – Long Crendon sub Amber Cattell scored to give them a 2-1 victory at Penn & Tylers Green with which they stayed top, Courtney Sumner got all four goals in second-placed Kidlington’s 4-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers U-23s whose Neve Mulrooney was sent off after 70 minutes. Abingdon United Devs had a good 3-0 win at Milton United, Chesham United Devs overcame Caversham United 4-0.

1 South – Havant & Waterlooville held first place with a 3-0 win over Woking, AFC Portchester ran out 4-1 winners at Rushmoor and Bournemouth Sports Reserves rose to third with a 4-1 defeat of Fleet Town.

SOUTH WEST – Ilminster win western top-two clash 

Premier – Bristol Rovers beat Forest Green Rovers helped by a Laura Curnock hat-trick to remain on course for the title. Marine Academy Plymouth beat Pucklechurch Sports 4-2, Sherborne Town are third after a 7-2 victory over AFC St Austell in which Becky Narramore scored three times. Frampton Rangers won the basement battle at Bishops Lydeard, to go level on points with their hosts.

1 East – In a meeting of second and third, Royal Wootton Bassett Town stormed to a 6-1 victory at Stockwood Wanderers. There were 2-0 home wins for Purton over Ridgeway and Weymouth against Frome Town.

1 North – Weston Super Mare beat Bristol Rovers Devs 2-0 but AEK Boco maintained pressure on the leaders when defeating Gloucester City 4-0. Mangotsfield United moved off the foot of the table by beating Downend Flyers 2-1, Paulton Rovers stay above them with a 4-2 success over SGS Olveston United in which Eleri Webber struck twice.

1 West – Ilminster Town took back the top spot from Saltash United on goal-difference, after defeating them 3-0.  Tori Marks got all three goals as Sticker recorded a 3-0 win over Feniton, Bideford beat Middlezoy 2-1 with Aimee Kingdon on target.

WEST MIDLANDS – Crusaders stun title-chasers

Premier – Worcester City increased their advantage at the top with an Olivia Mitcham hat-trick in a 4-0 win at Knowle, with nearest rivals Lye Town crashing 3-2 at bottom side Crusaders. Burton Albion won by the same score at Coventry Sphinx, Kidderminster Harriers were 5-1 winners over Solihull Sporting, Coundon Court gained ground on Shrewsbury Town whom they beat 2-1. Shifnal Town won 2-0 at Lichfield City and visit Kidderminster at Aggborough Stadium on Thursday 8 February.

1 North – Eighth-placed Tamworth pulled off a 2-1 victory over Walsall FC Women, Coventry City’s Georgia Furlong came off the bench to score twice in a 3-0 win at Coventrians that put them third. Elsewhere, Walsall Wood were 4-1 winners at Darlaston Town.

1 South – Redditch Borough won 4-1 at Sedgley & Gornal United to go within a point of leaders Long Itchington, over whom they have a game in hand. Leamington Lions drew 1-1 with Alvechurch, Bewdley Town held Rugby Town 2-2, Hereford Pegasus overcame Droitwich Spa 5-1 and Redditch United edged Worcester City Devs 3-2.
